Chapter 13: Rythian's Past

*Honeydew's POV*

They still attempted to get to us, but was stopped when vines sprouted from the ground. Sips and Sjin stumbled onto the ground before them as the vines wrapped around them. "Hey! It' say trap!" Sjin shouted.

"No shi-" Sips was about to shout something, but a vine covered up his mouth and it became muffled.

"Haha! Got 'ya you little buggers!" I shouted at them. "Now, what're you guys doin' here?" They just muffled at me. "Wha? Can't seem to here you?" They only became frustrated.

*Rythian's POV*

"Xephos are you alright?" I asked as he crawled out of the tent.

"Yeah, I just needed to get that out there. Sorry for bothering you with it." He said next our new fire and brought his knees up to his face. "Why are you up so early? Usually I'm the one up first."

"Oh, I don't sleep...not anymore." I sunk my face further into my scarf (would it be a scarf or a mask?). We sat there in silence for awhile.

"So...why don't you sleep. If it's about Zoey, I'm here for you." He gave me a warm smile.

I removed my scarf and revealed a pitch black and distorted jaw. I had sharp teeth and my mouth went nearly all the way to my ears. He looked shocked for a second, but then his eyes glowed a light blue like fire and smiled as we both had something unnatural. "I guess it's my turn to explain myself."

I tried to smile, but my mouth looked more of a grimace. "I was just a boy; a child without a family. I am old, older than I look in a way. I remember the old days before change and there was only magic. The times in which the Endermen roamed the land. They use to only take blocks to make people angry for enjoyment, eventually people became clever, they started using blocks that Endermen couldn't take. In rage, an Enderman took me from my family and brought me to the End. After years of being trapped there, I gained their power and left the End. I found this little house full of machines and a scientist by the name of Duncan Lalna. He was around my age and took care of me as I recovered. When I was fully healed, he taught me the ways of science and machines."

"So that's how you plan to save Zoey." Xephos interrupted my thoughts, I forgot he was there.

I simply nodded and continued. "It all changed though. One of his machines went wrong and ruined our lives. It was a machine to remove the Enderside of me. It attached itself to my head and removed it. My Enderside was gone, but something horrible happened. The Enderside somehow took over the machine and attacked Duncan and hurt him really bad. There was blood everywhere and so I saved him; I pulled the machine off of him and took back the Enderside of me. Duncan, my best friend, went mad and cynical. He blamed me for everything and swore to get revenge. Ever since then, I've been treated like a monster." I left a long silence for what felt like hours.

I didn't realise, but Xephos sat down next to me and gave me a hug, which was hard since I'm eight feet tall. "What about Zoey?" My heart stopped as I thought of her. "I'm sure she cared about you." I left her in the Overworld with nothing but Martyn's vine traps.

"She doesn't know what I am." My voice broke as I spoke. If anyone else was here instead of Xephos, I wouldn't dare speak about this.

"It's okay, friend."

Hey guys! I'm still freaking out that you helped me achieve over 1000 reads! I've been wanting to write so much, but life is so busy, especially with school, Thanksgiving, and now Christmas. My plan now is to start making the chapters longer, it might take slightly longer to write, but it'll be worth it. You might also be asking, 'What happened to Martyn?'
