Chapter 20

Emily's POV ~

I sigh and sit down. I hear the others speaking around me but I can't make out what they are saying. They scramble around and shout an awful lot but everything they say comes out muffled and distorted to me.

I shake my head to clear my thoughts but it doesn't help. I stare at the wooden floor in distress and after a few minutes I feel a hand on my shoulder.

"Emily? Are you okay?" I look up and smile at Lewis.

"Yeah... I'm good..." I say as I scramble to my feet. Lewis jumps a little at my sudden movement, but brushes it off as if it never happened. I giggle quietly and decide not to tease him about it.

For now atleast

I look to Eve and see her face has paled significantly. Jacob seems to have already tried comforting her though so I decide to not bother with it. I approach Simon who seems to have finished shouting at the strange man.

"Simon? I think we should attack him," I say, looking down at the dwarf.

"Just rush him? That doesn't sound very safe!" Jacob says from behind me.

"Well we can't just hide!" Alexis says coming closer.

"I'm with the girls!" Simon says pulling out his sword.

Lewis sighs, "I will have to agree. We can respawn anyways,"

"Well let's go then!" Simon says with a smile.

Jacob frowns, "Eve do you wanna come?" Eve responds to his question with a furious head shake and I roll my eyes.

"Well I am NOT babysitting her," I announce pulling out my new iron sword.

Eve pouts, "But I don't wanna be alone!"

Jacob sighs, "I'll watch the kid,"

I blink on surprise, "But you loooovvveeeddd PVP back when we weren't stuck here! What's different now?"

"That it isn't just a stupid video game to play with my friends," he says with a sad smile.

I sigh, "Okay stay with twerp then," I turn back to Simon, "Do you have any pork?"

He nods and hands me a few pieces, "Anyone else need some?"

The others shake their head no and I smile, "Let's go then!"

"Be safe!" Jacob says as Lewis and Simon start to break the dirt. I jump through first and pull out the bow and arrow I had crafter earlier. I had always been partial to bows. They were easier to use than swords in my opinion.

"He's getting away!" Alexis's shout pulls me from my thoughts and I look to where she is pointing.

"I'll catch him!" I say pulling open the door and sprinting after the man. I hear the others behind me but I am to focused on catching the pale stranger to wait for them.

As I follow him the land blurs around me. He is unnaturally fast and I can barely keep him in sight. After a while, though I can't guess how long I had been running, my legs grow tired and I am forced to stop. Looking around my surroundings everything looks strange and unfamiliar. There is nothing but ice for what seems like miles behind me and in front of me there is a rather large, pyramid like structure made out of gold.

I stare at the pyramid for a long while, losing track of the time. I am only aware of my spacing out when I feel someone tap my shoulder.

"Ahhh!" I shout pulling my sword out and spinning around.

"Woah! Emily it's just me calm down!' Lewis says, smiling at me. I look behind him and see the other two,Alexis and Simon, both out of breath.

"How long were we running?" I ask them

Alexis shrugs, "no clue, felt like hours but it is only just turning night and we started running a few minutes before sunrise. Days last like ten minutes here"

I frown, "Well we better find shelter unless you guys want to be stuck battling our way home,"

"Let's just stay in that pyramid thing," Simon says, walking towards the building's entrance. We all follow him for a few feet before reaching the massive structure.

"This is bigger than I thought," Alexis mutters as she stares up at it. I ignore her and peek inside.

"It's a jumping puzzle!" I say in surprise. I frown and pull out a bucket. "Thankfully I have a bucket of water!"
