Soon, the sun sets and we decide to make camp.
Once the tents were set up, we sat outside in the cold. We didn't dare light a fire, since the smoke would surely attract attention.
Ava shivers and I offer her my jacket, trying to seem nice. She accepts it and nods her head gratefully.
' So, Ava' I say, trying to break the awkward silence.
' What's there to know about you?'
She looks at the ground for a while before standing up and extending her arms. I sit there, wondering what she's doing.
Suddenly, a shimmery light takes over her form, like ripples in water and as the light fades, I see a Phoenix flying high and then swooping low, before landing gracefully and turning back into a human.
I sit there bewildered, though Jason seems unfazed.
Ava smiles.' Jason, care to tell?'
Jason nods and turns to me.
' You see, the world isn't as normal as it seems. There are invisible forces, always around. We live in a world where names hold power. Like me, the name Jason means healer, so I'm able to heal. Ava means bird, so she had the power to transform into one.'
'Cool' I say. 'But how come you guys didn't let me know before?'
' Well, these powers aren't a always helpful, they an be dangerous too, and the less you know about them, the safer you are.'
' Oh, ok....but what's my power?'
' Since you're name midnight, it probably has something to do with the night, or time' replies Ava.
' And how do I use it?' I ask getting more excited by the second.
' Whoa, take it easy!' Says Ava.
' It doesn't just come, you'll feel it within you when it's the right time'
I sit back, feeling myself deflate a little.
Jason laughs and we all join in, before heading to our tents, for a reassuring sleep.
Sup peeps! Hope you're enjoying the book so far. I just wanted ur opinion if whether I should put a pic of Jason in the next chapter. Let me know in the comments! :-)
