Chapter 2
Noah woke to the warmth of a fire melting half of his side. He pulled himself into a sitting position and grunted at the headache that he was rewarded with. The crackle of the fire brought his vision back to focus after a few seconds of blurred sights.
He was on a bed, with a fire right beside it and blankets holding in his frame. He wasn’t quite sure what to think of his surroundings, it was merely old wood. The room seemed a little ancient, but it kept him at peace.
All too quickly he realised what had happened recently, he rushed to find any wounds but came up with nothing. It didn’t make any sense. How could he be injured without having any wounds? It suddenly occurred to him that the last thing he remembers was seeing the girl that was kissing him produce wings from her back and then proceeding to grow into a very bright light until he lost himself to the dark.
Noah gasped when he realised that he wasn’t alone. A younger looking guy sat on a chair in the corner with a book on his lap. He was studying Noah cautiously, as if he were some bizarre creature.
“Umm” Noah smiled, “Hi?”
Under the circumstances, the guy wasn’t really helping. If anything, he was making things more awkward than they already were. He didn’t even reply to Noah, he sat there. He had broad shoulders and dark brown hair with hazel eyes; Noah guessed him to be around twenty eight.
“So” Noah attempted to break the silence. But the man just grunted and stood up; he then proceeded to walk out the door. Noah wasn’t sure what to think of this place, that was hardly a very pleasant welcome.
The door swung upon and a woman walked in. She had blonde hair that rested around her shoulders and she had light brown eyes; almost gold. She smiled when she saw him, and he realised just how attractive her smile really was. She was holding a rag in one hand that seemed to be dripping wet.
Noah had met too many strangers lately to be comfortable around random people (or whatever they were), he skittered to the edge of his bed and began to ease himself away from her. As soon as she saw this her smile dropped and she began to walk to him at a slower pace, “It’s okay, I just want to help. My name is Callie” She smiled reassuringly.
Her voice sounded sweet, surely she couldn’t be harmful. He relaxed his shoulders and leaned against the wall, resting his head from his sudden panic.
“I’m guessing Michael wasn’t very welcoming” She frowned, “I’ll have a word to him about that”
“Where am I?” Noah asked.
The womans expression changed and she sat down on the bed tugging at her shirt, “you’re at a- umm- Angels coven” She stated, “I suppose you might as well know now that you’re here”
“Huh” Noah frowned, “How old are you?”
“Twenty five, I think you met my husband before. He’s twenty seven; please excuse his behaviour on my behalf. I’ll talk to him later about his manners” She stated.
“It’s fine, I probably don’t have the right to be here anyway” Noah sighed.
“Oh, but you have every right. Some of us here are just reluctant to other races being in our domain, but because you do have angel blood you have every right to be here” She grinned.
“You looked eighteen, has anyone ever told you that?” Noah grinned- avoiding the current topic. The woman seemed to blush a reddish colour.
“It wouldn’t be the first time, looks can be deceiving” She chuckled.
