Chapter 12

Noah woke feeling light headed and docile. But when he opened his eyes, it all went away. He looked at the beautiful girl in front of him, and she looked right back. He held his breath as she walked closer and sat on the end of his bed. He just wanted to wrap her in his arms and breathe in her gorgeous scent. Now, that sounded really weird and sappy, but he couldn’t help it. He even mentally face palmed himself for having these feelings; it was way too soon.

“How are you feeling?” She smiled. Oh god, I wish she would smile at me like that every day- Noah thought- I just want to taste her lips and; shut up! Stop thinking that! It’s shattering your pride- Noah growled at himself.

“Good” Noah smiled- sitting up beside her. They were now thigh to thigh, shoulder to shoulder; and it felt comforting for both of them. It’s just a shame that they are both too stubborn to admit it and exchange hearts. Isn’t that what most couples do? Give each other their hearts? Not literally, of course; that would just cause a lot of bloodshed.

“Okay” Macey smiled, she took a deep sigh before talking. This is it; she was going to confront him about her feelings, “I need to talk to you about something”

Noah visually tensed. What did she want to talk about? Was it bad? Was it good? What if she actually had no feelings for him? Damn, wouldn’t that suck?

“Yeah?” Noah asked shakily, “Then talk” now that just sounded forced.

“I know we both said that we weren’t ready” Macey sighed, “And don’t get me wrong; I understand where you are coming from. But I just have to tell you that apparently our attraction towards each other is obvious”

“Really?” Noah frowned, “Who said that?”

“Michael, and if he knows, then everyone would have figured it out” Macey sighed.

“Oh” Noah frowned.

Then there was silence. And it wasn’t one of those awkward silences where there isn’t anything to say. It wasn’t the kind of comfortable silence where you know that everything has already been said. It was just one of those silences where you forgot someone else was in the room because you were too entranced in your thoughts.

But Noah finally snapped himself out of it, “Is there anything between us to figure out?” Noah blurted. But as soon as the words escaped his mouth; he regretted it. It did initially sound better in his head; stupid, stupid Noah.

Macey looked sincerely hurt. And this was a side of her Noah had never seen before; nor did he like it. In fact, he wanted to hug this side of her and wipe all her worry away. But that was weird, so- no- he was not going to do that.

“I guess not” she muttered under her breath- as she stood to walk away.

“Where are you going?” Noah asked.

“Somewhere that I am wanted” She snapped.

Okay, ouch. That hurt Noah more than he would like to admit. She was all emotional a minute ago and now she’s all touch-me-you-die. Maybe she had bipolar; can angels even have that? Noah thought angels were healthy and made to live long lives, while protecting the world- of course. Gah, why did he have to be so bland? Noah just stood there and watched as Macey walked over to the door; unable to move his feet. But in the last few seconds, he found a courage that had been locked away in some cage all this time.

He stomped over to her, and she watched in confusion and anger as he did so. He knew that he barely knew her, but he felt as though he had his whole life. He felt like he had been waiting his whole life for this defined moment. And as cheesy at is sounded, he knew it was the truth. He had never believed in soul mates; until now.
