Chapter 26

“We’re heading into war, with all these fellow warlocks, werewolves and angels on our side that are left” Luke blurted, standing at the head of the crowd, with his friends flanking behind him. He had the crowd’s undivided attention, and he was taking advantage of it. “We are united, but only if you’re willing to fight for this cause. We have to be our own saviour this time. This is no longer under the control of God’s hands, but by Satan, or perhaps Stanwell as our fellow warlocks would know him.”

“We’re guaranteed to lose!”

“The odds are against us!”

“It’s impossible!”

“You’re sending us to our deaths!”

“Stanwell will kill us all and burn our bodies to ashes, and then sprinkle us over all the realms!”

“We’re doomed!”

“How the heck are we supposed to win against her army?”

“She has doubled the ranks we have!”

“I’m over this shit dude, I gotta pee real bad” Now, that was James, if you hadn’t guessed already.

“Whoa! Where do you all think you’re going to get with that attitude?” Luke yelled.

The wind rustled in everyone’s faces, the moon shining bright in the night sky, and the silence that grew tenser by the second was overwhelming. Everyone was pestering themselves with negative thoughts, instead of believing that they had a chance in this; to win, to survive, to restore the realms.

“Huh? If one of you dares to step up and tell me what is so great about surrounding ourselves with negative thoughts and lies when we know we have a great chance in this, then for the sake of all things good, stop being a coward and get on up here!” Luke screamed, flailing his hands around in the air as he paced the ground before the large crowd, “Are you all afraid? Well, good! That means your sane! It gives us an immense burst of adrenaline to fight and defend ourselves, because we don’t want to lose”- Luke scowled, running his hands through his hair- “But, by god, if you drown yourself in these thoughts, then you’ve lost all hope before the fight has even begun. And for that, you are no more than a coward; you’ve already surrendered to evil. Now, is that what you want?”

The silence, again, was overwhelming. Luke wanted to scream in frustration and rip his hair out. He knew it would be hard to convince them that this fight would be worth it, but by the second, he found himself surrendering to their lack of confidence. Their doubts were starting to wear him down, and he could feel this heavy pressure building up around his chest, like this focus to convince them was weighing him down.

And then, out of nowhere, the crowd began to part in the middle, and a single soul stepped forth. Every step sent shock waves through the large crowd, with gasps and shutters erupting all around. Soon, other souls began to emerge from all directions, gliding up until they all flanked that first man in the large area parted by the crowd.
