Short Legs

We all sprinted as fast as our bodies would let us, feeling our muscles burn as we pushed ourselves onwards. I hadn't heard anyone following us though that didn't mean that Ragnar and his crew weren't doing so. Some of us started to slow down, and eventually, everyone else did too. Deep panting was the only.thing filling the silence as we tried to fill our lungs back up with oxygen that we so desperately needed. I bent over, feeling a little sick after the run and the body I had seen before we ran.

"We need to keep moving." Jack stated in a serious matter.

"But...we just need to rest...a little." I said between breaths.

"There's no time. If Ragnar comes back-"

"What if they're headed towards the ship!?" someone called out.

None of us had thought of that.

Everyone looked to Jack."Why are you all looking at me? Your faces are putting me off my train of thought."

"Captain, the men on the ship won't be able to hold off Ragnar's crew." Tricks tried to reason.

"But we can't exactly go back either." Jack retaliated.

"There's plenty of treasure elsewhere. I'm not getting stuck on this island." Lenny complained.

"No!" Jack snapped.

"Captain, Lenny is right; if we go any further, we may lose the Black Pearl. Who knows how long we could be stranded here for?"

Jack was looking very hesitant but also contemplating his options. This treasure must mean something to him if he was seriously thinking about abandoning his precious ship; could he have lied about it just being gold? This was Jack Sparrow we were talking about, of course he would. Everyone started to talk over one another.

"Ok, how about some of us circle back and try to at least stall them-"

"They would just crush us and move us out of the way."

"Or we could-"

"How about we just offer Scarlett to them? That's one of the things they want, isn't it? She'll keep them distracted long enough." Lenny raised his voice.

Before I could even react, I saw Tricks pull his arm back, punching Lenny square in the face. There were gasps as he tackled him to the floor, repeatedly punching Lenny's face side to side. Tricks suddenly stopped, pulling Lenny near him with the collar, trijg to intimidate him.

"What's you problem!? Get over the fact that she is better than you or get off the ship!" Tricks shouted in his face.

"Tricks! That's enough!" I stopped him, pulling him off of Lenny. Lenny sprung to his feet, distancing himself from Tricks.

"Why are you defending him?"

"I'm not. I just wanted to do this." I quickly bounced up to Lenny, also swinging a punch."That felt amazing."

"Right, now that we've sorted that out," Jack brought us back to the problem,"how are we going to solve this?"

"Captain, we'll have to get back. I can't believe I'm saying this, but it's just gold." Tricks said.

"Jack, the lad may be right. We've only just got the Pearl back." Mr Gibbs hissed.

Jack was still undecided."We appear to be at a crossroads."

I groaned."Right, that's it. Everyone, we're heading back."

Jack went to protest."Excuse me, is Captain in your name anywhere?"

"It is now." I shouted behind me as I walked away. The rest of the crew slowly followed, leaving behind a shocked Jack.

As I stormed away, I tried to work out where we had just come from. The rainforest just looked the same; a variation of plants, humidity and green. I didn't want to be here right now. But everyone was following me, expecting me to take them somewhere, anywhere that would guide them back to the ship.

Mr Gibbs strolled up to me."Miss Pearl, the captain isn't following-"

"I know he isn't. If he loves his ship so much he should catch up to us."

"And if he don't?"

I hesitated."Well....look, he'll come...hopefully."

"That be our Jack."

"Yes unfortunately. Anyway, how are we-"

My sentence was interrupted as someone jumped out and grabbed me. I screamed as I was dragged away, my heels digging into the soil to try and stop the person from taking me away. Mr Gibbs leapt forward, grabbing my legs though I could feel him pulling hard. However, he too was captured, along with the rest of the crew. I hadn't had a chance to see any of our kidnappers' faces due to me thrashing about and trying to escape from the strong arms holding me.

"GET OFF OF ME!" I demanded.

I was thrown to the floor, the dirt digging into my nails and staining my face. Scrambling away, I was just grabbed again by the ankles, feeling as if my bones had been pulled out of the sockets from the force I was pulled back with. Groaning, I lifted my head a little as I felt someone tying my hands together. As I looked up, my eyes widened, meeting with that of Ragnar's.

"You aren't the ones who have captured us?" I asked confused.

"Does it look like it? You're more looks than smarts, aren't you?"

"What are you doing here!?"

"We did warn you."
