Barry and Dr. Wells came back, but I hung out in the corner and watched as Caitlin, Cisco and Wells fussed over him. he left, only coming back for a second to ask if he could keep the S.T.A.R. Labs sweatshirt.
"Keep the sweatshirt." Wells responds, disappointed that Barry didn't stick around for more tests.
"Did he have any signs of having speed like me?" I ask Cisco, who shakes his head 'no'. "Guess we won't know anything until he tells us." I say. They all agree, and we sit in silence for a bit, before Wells motions me out of the room.
"Chris-" He starts.
"No." I cut him off. "I don't want your apology. The only reason I'm here is because of Barry. I was about to leave anyway." I start to walk away, but I hear him call after me.
"Christopher!" He shouts. I stop.
"The only reason I'll listen to you is because you didn't for me." I mumble to him. He doesn't talk, so I turn around to face him. To my surprise, he's gone.
As I walk back to the Cortex, my phone starts to buzz. Greg's calling me. I answer, and what comes out the other line, is something I could never imagine hearing.
"CHRIS!" He shouts. "YOUR HOUSE, IT'S ON FIRE!"
"What the hell?!" I say. At this point, both Cisco and Caitlin have peered out of the Cortex, and Cisco runs to me.
"GO!" He shouts. "Run, Chris, run!"
I race there, pushing myself to go faster, to the point of near exhaustion, arriving just before the first respondents do. The place is in flames, and as much as I want to, I don't dare go in there. I just stand, and watch as my home burns to the ground. I was pulled back by a fireman, I pick up my phone and dial my dad's number. Straight to voicemail. I call again, same thing, no answer. In a panic, I rush and dial the wrong number. Finally, I manage to dial the correct one, and he picks up after two rings.
"Chris? What's up?" he asks.
"Dad. The house. It's up in flames. No one was home, I was at S.T.A.R. Labs, but the fire crew are here now."
I hear him stifle a gasp. "I'm on my way." And with that, he hangs up.
