Rapids (AU) [Completed]

The school day went by faster than I thought, and soon, me and Zach were soon eating lunch in a stairwell of a hallway.

"So, have you heard of the Starling City Vigilante?" Zach asks.

I shake my head no. "Where I come from, we're more focused on what goes in on our town. The Particle Accelerator explosion was only covered for about a day."

Zach stops chewing, and stares at his food, suddenly upset.

"Sorry." I say. "I forgot it's still a sore subject here."

He sniffs alittle, and looks at me. "It's okay, it's just, both my dad and my uncle were killed after it failed." He wipes a small tear away from his eye. "Life's never been the same without them."

"I'm sorry for your loss." I put my hand on his shoulder. "I know how you feel. My mom left us when I was little, and my dad was never the same." I tear up a bit. "I didn't even know her well, but when my dad talks about her, his ace lights up, like she's sitting right next to him."

Zach sighs. "Maybe it'll help me."

"Sure." I say with a small smile. "What were their names?" 

"Mark and Clyde Mardon."

"What did they like? Wh-" Zach cuts me off.

"Money." He says. "And lots of it. I was raise by my mother because she didn't want me around them. Just to spite her, they came to almost every weekend. My dad still fancied her, even though they weren't married. Eventually, it became normal to see them together. Because he was a wanted man, they never married, but I took his last name. I never supported him and my uncle's efforts, but I loved them both anyway. One night, they were escaping capture in a small biplane, just as the particle accelerator exploded. the plane went down, killing both of them. And it's all Harrison Wells' fault." Zach finishes. "One day. One day, I'll avenge them." He shakes his fist. "One day."

I finish up my lunch, and we both head to the rest of our classes. After school, I shoot a text to my dad explaining I'll be at S.T.A.R. Labs for a bit. Once I arrive, I see Barry, Caitlin, Cisco, and some woman I recognize, all gathered in the Cortex. 

"Hey." I say as I enter, sitting down at the desk.

"Hi Chris." Caitlin says to me.

"Chris!" the woman exclaims, and it all hits me. I think the woman's name is Iris, and she was at the particle accelerator launch. I ran after a guy who stole her laptop.

"Hey." I say, standing up. "Iris, right?" She nods. Barry nods to me.

"We just were in the area, so we thought we'd drop by. Is Dr. Wells here by any chance?" Barry asks.

"Yes, actually. You walked in at the right time Mr. Allen. I was just about to start some work." Wells looks at me. "Christopher, how nice to see you. How is the transition going?"

"Good. Very good." I say. "Honestly, I can't thank you enough."

Wells nods, and turns to Barry. "You wanted to talk to me, Mr. Allen?" 

Barry nods, and looks at Iris. "Thanks for the ride, I'll text you when I'm done." He walks off with Dr. Wells, and Iris turns to all of us. 

"Well, it was nice to meet all of you, but I have to get back to work. I'll see you another time!" She waves, and walks out of the Cortex.

"I ship it." Cisco says as soon as Iris is out of sight. I laugh, and agree with Cisco.

"Why don't we focus on something other than the love life of our patients. Oh! I know! Chris, we still have to finish your tests. Come along then." Caitlin guides my in the direction of a room just off the the side.

"Cisco has something to show you."

Hey everyone! So, it's been almost ten days since I last updated, and I am so sorry! I thought I would have this done, but the plan to update every other day didn't work out. But, don't worry, I have a better plan! For and experimental time period, I'm going to update once every week!
