(Frank's POV)
*~Two years ago, seventh grade~*
My first year in this town. Belleville. I didn't oppose moving to New Jersey, I was actually relieved that my mother told me we were moving. I lived in Maine, stupid Maine. The school was harsh along with the students. Daily beatings and slips of the word 'faggot'. Yeah, overused but this is what happens when you're gay and in a town full of homophobes, right? And with my short, thin structure.... Perfect size for the lockers. Also overused, but when you're short it happens, right? I had absolutely no friends. Well, maybe one, who wasn't even really a friend. More like acquaintance. No, not even that.
I was just hoping that New Jersey would give me a fresh start, maybe a few friends, no more bullies. I wasn't even hoping for friends, really. Just someone who didn't mind that I was gay. Of course, that didn't happen. Not until three weeks after I had moved in.
We came in mid July. So it's still Summer, my mom wouldn't register me in school until later on this month, and then I have to go to Hell.
I was walking along the street when I heard footsteps behind me, basically echoing my own. I walked faster out of habit. Then I felt a hand squeeze my shoulder. Out of habit, I fell to the ground waiting for the kicks and shouts of 'faggot', 'retard', 'sinner', and any other insults that came to mind. But they never came. I peeked up and saw a very tall boy with brownish hair. He had glasses and looked very awkward. "Um, are you okay?" He asked me, worried, while shifting his weight from one foot to the other.
"Ye-Yeah. Just, yeah I'm fine." I replied, gosh, what a stupid reply.
"Sorry if I startled you, I'm Mikey by the way."
"I'm Frank." Surprisingly I didn't stutter out the two words.
"Nice to meet you, I live just across the road and saw the moving truck. My mom is super friendly and asked me to come over and invite you and your mother to dinner tonight." He smiled shyly at me and began to fumble with his hands, he was so adorable!
"Uh, alright. Here... Uh, come with me, let me go ask my mom." He simply nodded in reply and walked instep with me to my house.
"Hey, mom?" I shouted as I came in, "the neighbors invited us to dinner tonight."
"Really? Sure!" She came out with a smile and saw Mikey. "Is this the neighbor?" She said oddly. Like she expected some- I don't know.
"Yeah, the neighbor's son. He said his mom is really friendly, so maybe you two'll get along."
"Alright, what time, uh..."
"Mikey," He said, "and seven-thirty. Dinner is served at eight. My mom wants to get to know you guys a bit."
"Alright." My mother replied sounding really eager to my surprise. "We'll be there."
Mikey nodded and then walked out.
It was a good day, I spent it unpacking and settling in. I watched the clock until 7:30 hit. "Ready to go, Frank?"
I ran down the stairs almost tripping myself, "Yes!"

We ate dinner there, and we found out that Mikey had an older brother, Gerard. He was stunning. But I wasn't going to get my hopes up.

When my mother knocked on the door, Mikey answered looking a little out of breath, "Hey," he panted slightly.
I smiled and nodded once. Then I entered his house. "Gerard! We have company! Get your ass down here!" Mikey yelled towards a staircase.
A muffled, 'fine' came in response and then I heard heavy footsteps thudding their way down.
"Hey, I'm guessing you're Frank. I'm Gerard." He didn't smile, not at all. Just a straight, bored looking face.
"Yeah.."
At the dinner table I continuously stole glances at Gerard. I didn't want to make it obvious that I found him quite attractive, no one in the room knows I'm gay, and I sure as hell don't want my mom disowning me. I don't know much about the Ways so I have no clue whether they're homophobes or not.
After dinner we talked, well, mom and Donna, Mikey and Gerard's mom, talked.
Gerard went to his room and threatened to chop Mikey's dick off if he bothered him.
"So, Frank, tell me about yourself." Mikey said in this fake formal accent.
"Um, my dad left when I was four... I moved from Maine," I paused then added very quickly, and quietly, "I'm gay," and continued at a slower pace, "I like most-"
"You're gay?!" Mikey whisper-yelled.
"Yes! Now shhh!" I whisper-yelled back.
"Me too!" He smiled hugely and then said, "Don't let that get out at school, people will definitely kick your ass. I only have one other person who knows and it's my friend, Amy."
"Maybe we could be friends?" I asked rather than stated.
"Yes!"
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
That was a good night, so, when I said that I didn't meet anyone who didn't mind I was gay until three weeks after I moved in, I meant someone who was straight. That was a girl, and her name is Skylar.
Skylar was and actually to this current day, in ninth grade, is one of my best friends.

Okay, so just a little flash back thing, the story will continue go to present day in the next update!
