"Thank you very much Mrs Rickman" I said to the old lady who was kind enough to watch Nolan while I was at work. "You're welcome dear" she said giving me that warm smile. My boss was nice enough to let me work half my shift. I didn't feel comfortable leaving Nolan with Mrs Rickman for too long. He was clearly not comfortable with strangers but he was comfortable enough around me.

"So are you hungry?" I asked Nolan taking his hand as we made our way back to Damon's apartment. He shook his head making his blond hair fall in his eyes before saying, "I had lunch at Mrs Rickman's."

"Do you want to watch cartoons while I do my homework?" I asked Nolan once we got to the apartment. The little boy nodded, looking really excited and ran to the living room. I walked into the living room to see him practically bouncing on the couch as he stared at me, waiting eagerly. I put on the TV for him before going to the dining area to deal with my homework.

I got my books out of my bag and set them down on the dining table, whilst groaning inwardly at the pile. I blindly put my hand in my bag to get out my physics textbook but my fingers came in contact with a smooth glass surface, my phone. I took it out hoping that there would be a message or even a missed call from Damon but there was none.

I felt something burn in my chest. I didn't know if it was worry or anger I was feeling.

It has been two days.

I haven't heard from him in two fucking days.

I had left tons of messages but he never replied to any of them. I wanted to call Kyrn and ask her if she knew anything but I did not. I didn't want her to worry like I was in case she had no idea where he was.

But where the hell was he?

I ignored that for now. I decided to take care of the pile of homework instead.

"Taylor Taylor" Nolan called from his position on the couch pulling me out of my thoughts. "Yeah" I answered looking up from my books. "I'm hungry" he whispered looking away from me as his cheeks turned a deep shade of red.

He looked too cute.

"No pizza tonight though" I called out moving into the kitchen. We've had pizza two nights in a row and I didn't think it was healthy even though the little boy loved it. We had chicken for dinner instead.

"Taylor where's my dad?" Nolan asked staring up at me with those beautiful green eyes that reminded me of Damon, hope swirling in them. Nolan kept asking the same question and I could not stand lying to him when he looked at me with those eyes. I had no idea where his father was.

"He'll be back" I told him. It wasn't a lie but it was not the truth either. He only stared at me for a while before looking back to the TV.

'Where are you? Call me' I typed and hesitated for a bit before sending the message.

What was the point anyway? He didn't respond to the others.

Why would he respond to this one?

But I still could not stop the hope brimming in my heart as I stared at my phone screen.

Nothing.

A noise from the kitchen followed by a string of curses woke me up. I sat upright on the couch where I had fallen asleep –where I always seem to fall asleep- and looked towards the kitchen where I could still hear someone moving around.

Oh my God!

Could it be a burglar? Or was it...Damon.

Just in case, I armed myself with the first thing I could find which happened to be my chemistry textbook. It was big and heavy enough to do some serious damage.
