"Who is this?" Damon asked staring down at Nolan for a bit before moving to the kitchen.

So Mr Blake was not able to get to him after all.

"Um..." I looked down at Nolan who stirred a bit. Can I have this conversation with Nolan here even though he was asleep? I don't know how Damon's going to react.

"I'll be right back" I said picking up Nolan and going down the hallway to the bedrooms. Damon only raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything. I decided to put him in Kyrn's room; she's not going to be back for a while.

He stirred a little when I put him down but immediately went back to sleep. I came out to find Damon with a beer in his hand going through his phone.

"So who's the kid?" he asked when I came into the kitchen. "Um..." not knowing how to answer his question; I gave him the letter. I saw his face contort to a frown as he read the words. I then went on to tell him everything that happened from finding Nolan in the elevator to bringing him up here.

Throughout my story his eyes never strayed from the paper in his hand. When I was done he put the paper down, picked up his keys and headed for the door.

"Damon" I called out and he stopped to glance back at me. "I have to go" he said and rushed out the door. He just got back and now he's gone.

What was that about?

"Thank you very much Mrs Rickman I'll be back at five" I said to Mrs Rickman, an old woman who lived on the floor below Damon's apartment. I needed someone to take care of Nolan since Damon and I had to be at school. Mrs Rickman was the only one I knew that stayed home during the day.

Speaking of Damon, he never made it home last night and I did not see him this morning either. It was really strange. He didn't even send a text or call or anything.

"Of course dear" she said pulling me out of my thoughts and I smiled at her. I looked down at Nolan who was still holding onto my hand staring at his shoes.

He had been more open last night but once he saw a new face; he immediately closed up again.

"Hello dear" Mrs Rickman greeted Nolan who only spared her a glance and went back to staring at his shoes. "He's really shy" I said to her and she only smiled down at Nolan.

I squatted down to Nolan's level making him look up at me. "You are going to stay with Mrs Rickman till I get back okay?" I said to him. He looked unsure and reluctant but nodded anyway and I couldn't help but smile at him to tell him that everything was going to be okay.

"Okay, thank you again" I said handing Mrs Rickman his bag which had his packed lunch and a few books I found in his duffel bag. "Bye Nolan" I said handing him over too. The little boy looked so sad and I felt so bad. I almost didn't want to leave but I had to be at school.

I tried Damon's number again on my way to school but I only got his voicemail. I had to let him know where I dropped off Nolan and I was also really worried about him.

"Hey it's Taylor...again. I wanted to let you know that Nolan...um your son is with Mrs Heffley you know the old woman who lives on the floor below and um...I hope everything is okay. Please call me back" I said into the receiver.

I stared at my phone for a while hoping he would call me back immediately but that didn't happen so I ignored it and continued on my way to school.

I just hope he calls me soon.

The whisky burned down his throat as he poured himself another drink. This had been going on all morning. Downing drink after drink but he still could not get enough. He took out his phone that had been going on for hours now, every missed call from Mikky. He wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone or hear anything about his son.

God knew how much he didn't want to hear a thing about the boy.

Mr Leonard Knight had just arrived from a really long business trip and all he wanted to do was sleep the jet lag away. He made his way into the living room and was surprised to find his son at the bar with a half empty bottle of whisky.

"Did you sleep here?" Damon's father asked coming to stand in front of him on the other side of the bar. "Yes, want one?" he asked getting out another glass to pour his father a drink.

"Are you drunk? It is barely eight" his father said in a reprimanding tone taking the bottle away from his son. "Spare me your lecture I'm not really in the mood" Damon snapped.

Mr Leonard Knight was about to snap back at but he could tell his son was in a foul mood. He sighed pinching the bridge of his nose trying to calm himself so he didn't end up fighting with his son. He honestly could not remember the last time his son had willingly showed up in his home and for him to come here and get drunk, there was definitely something wrong.

"What's wrong?" he asked. Damon looked his father in the eye and in that moment he could see the fear and vulnerability in his son's eyes. He had never seen Damon look this way before.

"Phoebe Reade" Damon said, "she's back."
