"What the hell is this place?"

So, when Drew said that he was going to cheer me up, I really could not take a wild guess on what he planned on doing to achieve that. But, one thing is for sure, I was not expecting this.

"Come on!" Drew said yanking on my hand not giving me a chance to take the whole place in. I didn't even know such a place existed. Well even if I did know about such a place, I would never have come here.

The place was called the Scorpion bar. A really not so subtle name if you asked me. The first thing I noticed were the people. There were so many of them and they were all dressed in Biker clothes with jackets that had a scorpion on their backs. They were also covered in tattoos and piercings drinking and smoking stuff that I'm pretty sure is very illegal. This was obviously some kind of gang and I did not feel comfortable at all.

How did Drew even know this place?

As we made our way through the crowd to the bar, Drew was greeted by a few people but he never stopped to chat or offer more than a nod in their direction. But the fact that they paid us very little attention didn't make me feel less uncomfortable. One guy who had multiple piercings on his face and cause he was in a wife beater I could see the tattoos that trailed both arms up to his neck, winked at me and licked his lips flirtatiously. I immediately looked away and drew closer to Drew.

No pun intended.

"Drew! Hey man, where you been? Haven't seen you in these parts in a while? What you been up to?" The bartender greeted Drew excitedly. The bartender was a very pretty black girl who, just like most people in the bar was also covered in tattoos and piercings. But, you could still see how pretty she was. "Hey Mikayla," Drew greeted her with a fond smile on his face.

"Missed me?" Drew asked, a playful smile playing on his lips. "You know I've missed your crazy white ass." She said hitting him with the napkin she had been using to wipe down the bar. "Hope you been keepin out of trouble?" She asked with a smirk on her lips as she went back to wiping down the bar. Drew didn't verbally answer her question. He only smiled and she smiled right back like she understood what he was trying to say without him having to say anything at all.

"So why don't you come by anymore? Alec's been dominating the ring for a really long time now." She said gesturing to the ring that was being set up in the middle of the place.

I didn't wait to hear Drew's answer. I zoned out on their conversation and took in my surrounding.

There were tables scattered around the place in no particular order. Two pool tables sat in a corner and so many people milled about the place. But, what seemed to stand out more than anything was the fighting ring. Now that I actually got a good look of the place, it was huge.

"This is Taylor," Drew said tugging on my hands. I wasn't even aware that he was still holding my hand but I made no move to take my hand away from his. I turned to the bartender, Mikayla as Drew called her to see her staring at me. She stared me up and down and finally met my eyes with a wink. "People call me Kayla. Only this f**ker insists on calling me by my full name." She said pointing at Drew and leaning on the bar with a smile on her face.

"Hey," I said with a small wave. Not knowing what else to do cause of the intense look she was giving me, I looked away. "Don't worry honey, I don't bite." She said and I heard her laugh. It was a nice pleasant sound that I wasn't expecting from her. I managed a small smile in her direction but said nothing.

"So, who's fighting tonight?" Drew asked gesturing to the ring. "Some new guy and Alec," she answered and when she mentioned the name Alec, I noticed Drew tense up and squeeze my hand but he made no comments. "Anyway, you are clearly not here to fight," Kayla said gesturing to our intertwined hands with a smirk. "Then why are you here?" Kayla asked. "I'm clearly not here to fight. This place happens to make the best burgers I've ever eaten," he answered her with a smirk.

"The usual?" she asked and he nodded. I saw her pull out a notepad from under the bar and write something down. "It won't be ready for a while. Why don't you guys go have fun while you wait. Your drinks are on the house." She said with a smile. I ordered a coke while Drew ordered a beer before we moved to one of the pool tables that had just been vacated.

"Ever played before?" Drew asked setting his beer down and picking up a stick. "No" I answered taking a sip of my coke. "And before you offer to teach me, what is this place? And why are we here?" I fired at him, not able to hold it in anymore.

"We're cheering you up remember?" He said leaning on his stick, a smirk playing on his lips. "Yeah, but how does coming to an illegal fight club do that?" I asked, looking around the place again which was still the same as when we came in except they were done setting up the ring now.

"We're just making a pit stop and I'm going to teach you how to play pool." He answered waving his cue stick at me. I still felt extremely uncomfortable.

"Relax, well leave soon." He said sending me a small smile and urging me with his eyes to trust him. He was making an attempt and he really wasn't a bad guy. "Fine," I groaned picking up a stick too.

I just hope our food gets out soon.

"Pay up!" I yelled, throwing my hands in the air. It was the third game of the night and I was on a roll. I had beaten Drew at every game we played since I got the hang of it. "Pay up," I repeated stretching out my hand to Drew who was staring at the table. "Did you lie to me when you said you've never played before?" Drew asked staring at me suspiciously as he reached into his pocket for his wallet.

"I wasn't lying," I said with a laugh taking the twenty from him while he grumbled under his breath. Our food had arrived a long time ago but I was really enjoying playing the game. Even the people here didn't bother me so much anymore.

"Don't be such a sore loser," I said patting him on the back as I moved to the other side of the pool table. "I'm not being a sore loser. You're cheating somehow, I know you are." He said still giving me that suspicious look making me laugh harder. He ignored me and continued staring at the table like it would suddenly reveal how I'd manage to win every game.

"Okay, one last game. If you win, I'll return every dollar I won tonight, deal?" I asked stretching out my hand. "Prepare to lose Brown," he said with a smile, taking my hand.

"Are you betting on anyone?" I asked Drew when I heard a guy calling out for people to come place their bets for the fight. "No I'm n..." Drew didn't get to complete his sentence because he was cut off mid-sentence.

"Not even me?"
