We drove up into upstate New York. And we drove into the woods. There was a house there. It was two stories and it wasn't really flashy. Which I was quite thankful for, don't get me wrong, I mean, big houses and mansions are great -- but I just think a cozy tiny home is nice too.
I hopped out of the car and got my bag out of the trunk of Aiden's hotrod.
"I'm going to put the car in the garage I'll meet you upstairs in flash" Aidensaid out of the car window.
"Okay" I said and walked up to the front door. I turned the door knob and walked through the door.
The den seemed very cozy with a fireplace, comfortable couch and sitting areas, lamps, a rug, and a coffee table. It kind of reminded me of a log cabin -- except more modern. It was beautiful. The architecture was nice. I would've done something a little different, but it was cozy.
I went upstairs and looked at the different rooms. He had four. Four bedrooms for one person. That's a lot of rooms.
"You can pick any one you like" Aiden said. I turned around.
"Okay, thanks Aiden" I said.
"No problem" he said and picked the room to the right. I picked the one to the far left. This bedroom had a window seat (of course), a radio, a king sized bed, a couch by the window in the far corner, and an inside bathroom.
Hallelujah, I thought as I set my bag down. It was here in the woods. Plus, it was getting closer to winter. It was about two in the morning when I looked at the clock. I wasn't really tired, but I knew I needed sleep.
I showered and put on a gray long sleeved, VS shirt, a pair of black and white plaid pajama pants, and blow dried my hair. Yes I found a blow dryer.
I brushed my hair and teeth, and was about to go to bed when I heard a knock at the door. I leaned back and saw Aiden standing at in the middle of the door frame.
"Uh, hello" I said.
"Hey" he walked in.
"So what's up?" I said as I pulled my hair into a sloppy bun. I sat down on the bed with my knees to my chest.
"I was just, checking up on you" he said.
"Oh, well I'm fine. Thanks" I said.
This is akward.
"Okay. You sure you don't want that tea?" He asked.
"Nope. I'm good" I replied.
"Okay" he said.
"Okay" I said. He started walking and looked back for a second. Then he kept walking. He closed the door behind him.
That...was akward, I got up and decided to put my things in the corner. I put my pacemaker under my pillow and put the safety on. I don't want to be shot in the middle of the night by my own gun. Yeah, so maybe I don't care if I die, but I do care for my sleep. And I would like to have a chance to get some good sleep, although I haven't had any since that night I was seven years old, there's still a chance that I'd get some one day...at least I hope so. I once tried some Benadryl -- did it work? Nope.
I climbed into the bed and hoped tonight would be a night of good sleep. Did that happen? Of course not. Because the moment I closed my eyes, was the moment I slipped into another gory nightmare.I was in a room. It wasn't white. It was a cabin room. What is up with my mind and cabins? It was dark. And it was only a one room cabin. One entrance. Meaning only one exit. That's great. Just greeeaaaaaat. No furniture. So obviously no one lives here. No bed. Just a floor a door and a light. I sat in the middle of the one room cabin.
The only place I could explore was outside. If my nightmare would even let me go outside. I looked at the door. It wasn't there anymore.
Well great. No weapons. No exit. No entrance. What the heck am I supposed to do?
"Back again." A voice said.
"Oh God not you again."
"Hello deadly" her voice sounded like one of those creepy, breathy whispers. Like ripping paper.
"Nice to see you again" she said.
"I'd say the same to you but last time we spoke you set the cabin on fire and killed Fa Liang."
"No, deadly, that was you, remember?"
"It was only a nightmare. I know he's still alive."
"Mmm, but not for long. You know that. Grandpa's getting old."
"Shut up" I said. She laughed at me. I was so sure that it was Brianna.
"I'm not Bree. I'm you." It was like she was reading my thoughts.
"Prove it then."
"Okay fine. You're afraid that your a killer and that you'll hurt your loved ones, which is correct. You're afraid to lose them; you're afraid of someone breaking your walls down -- like Aiden would."
"Shut up."
"I'm not finished."
"Well I am."
"It's the truth. You're afraid of being alone. But you are alone."
"That's true I am alone. I'll admit that."
"Finally. You understand."
"No, I just know I'm alone. And being alone is perfectly fine with me."
"HA! Wrong. You hate loneliness. It's like a shadow that follows you everyday!"
"Shut up I'm done with you."
"You can't get rid of me I'm inside your head."
"This is my head and I can get rid of you whenever I want."
She laughed even more.
"You know it's true. Everyone leaves you because there's a problem with you. You're a monster. You're alone. And this! THIS IS WHO YOU ARE! A MONSTER!"
Fire started again. Showing images of my past. What I was afraid of. That was true I was afraid of those things. And that's what appeared in the fire. A fire that started to become darker and darker. I threw myself against the wall. Did that help? NO. The fire grew closer and closer. It was at my tippy toes now. I was hyperventilating.
No calm down. This is only a noghtmare. Calm down. Slow the breathing.
"This is just a nightmare. A ridiculous, stupid nightmare" I assured myself. She laughed maniacally. The fire grew on me and I felt it burn everywhere on my body.
"YOU'RE DEAD ON THE INSIDE AND YOU KNOW IT!" She said. I screamed.
"SHUT UP!"
