Chapter Twenty-four: One Big Secret

      For the last couple of days Peggy and I have been talking to each other. Filling each other in about our lives for the passed few years. I woke up this morning and went into the kitchen only to fine Aiden eating some cookie dough.
"Dude, it's eight o'clock in the morning" I said.
"Cookie dough is good for the soul" he pointed a spoon at me while his mouth was full with cookie dough.
"Alright I can't argue with that one" I said. It seems like all Aiden eats is pancakes and sugary sweets, I mean Jesus you need a salad once in awhile dude.
"Peggy is still asleep. You should eat breakfast" Aiden said with a mouth full of uncooked cookies.
"I'm not hungry right now" I yawned.
"You had nightmares last night didn't you?" He asked.
I sighed "Yes."
"You're either sleeping with me or Peggy."
"I'm fine."
"No you're not. You're not well rested."
I sighed and gave him a look.
"Shut up."
"I'll make some tea for you every night."
"Okay I'm good. Fine. Perfect."
"Peggy would disagree."
"Don't bring Peggy into this" I stood up really fast.
"Don't bring Peggy into what?" Peggy walked into the kitchen in her PJ's and yawned. She had on a crop top and sweatpants, and she walked in without a care in the world. If only I had that much confidence.
"Nothing. I'm glad you're up." I smiled.
"Alice has nightmares" Aiden blurted out.
"Aiden!" I said.
"In fact, she had one last night" he said.
I groaned and put my hands on my head.
"Why didn't you tell me, Alice?" Peggy asked in concern.
"Because I don't want you to worry about me. I don't want anyone to worry about me" I said.
"Too late" Aiden spooned some more cookie dough.
"Shut up, You, you've said enough" I said.
"I'm always here Alice. And so is Aiden" Peggy put my chin up.
"Trust us" she said.
"I do" I said.
"Good. Now eat some breakfast" Peggy walked to the fridge.
"Cookie dough anyone?" Aiden asked.
"Alice needs protein. Not sugar" Peggy pulled out some eggs.
"Ready to eat?" She asked.
"Yep starving." I replied.
I had the biggest secrets in my mind.
But I didn't dare breathe a word about them. I didn't want Peggy in this. I didn't want her to worry. She's been through so much these years she shouldn't be worried about something she shouldn't even be involved in.
"Hey you want one or two eggs?" Peggy asked. I didn't hear her. I was lost in thought about all of the things I didn't say.
"Earth to Alice? Come in Alice!" Peggy raised her voice.
"Oh, um, two" I said.
I'll do anything to keep her safe. I failed to keep my family safe once. I won't fail again.

Okay so this is short I know and it's not too good. Trust me I know. But I've been really busy with school and stuff. I'm sorry that I didn't update much. I'm going to set an alarm tomarrow so I can update the next chapter tomarrow. I hope you guys liked this one. At least a little bit. I'm trying to make this book a little lengthy.
