Chapter 18
Returning to Hogwarts
The rest of the day passed by simply enough. Actually, the whole weekend did.
Though I spent most of my time sleeping, I must admit. I was bummed about not being able to sleep in any more at Hogwarts, but I wanted to see Harry, Hermione,Neville, Luna, and even Ron, even though that means I’ll have to deal with Lavender.
“LILY! YOU’RE GONNA MISS THE PORTKEY!” Caiden’s voice yelled down the hallway, and I rolled my eyes, smiling slightly and shutting my small bag before replying.
“I’ll be right there!” I yelled, sliding down the bannister and into the hallway, nearly slamming into Lucy, who was sitting in the hallway.
“Bye babe.” I said, kissing the dog on the forehead before walking into the living room, my bag slung over my shoulder. Caiden wrapped his arms around my waist in a quick hug, and Remus smiled at me knowingly.
On an impulse I walked over and hugged him, and I felt him tense in surprise before he hugged me back.
“What about me?” Sirius’s whiny voice came from the doorway, and after Remus released me I ran over and tightly hugged him.
“Be safe, Flowers.” He whispered in my ear and I nodded. It had taken me awhile to realize how attached I had become to the ex-convict, besides- and as embarrassing as it is to admit, the small crush I had developed on him after reading the books.
But now I laughed at that, and I couldn’t think of him as anything else but a father figure, and probably the best I could ask for.
“Love you.” I muttered, and I could picture him smiling as he rubbed my back, prying me off him.
“Love you too. Now get going, you’ll miss the portkey.” He said, winking at me as I watched the honey pot the glowed a bright blue.
“Love you all, stay safe.” I said, giving one last smile before I grabbed the portkey, taking off in a swirl of blue.
I watched as the world spun around me before I let go, come to a stop in Dumbledore’s office, holding my head.
“Ooh, dizzy...” I said when I felt a pair of strong arms wrap around me, pulling me into a tight hug.
“Harry!” I half squeaked, half laughed as my cousin hugged me, nearly suffocating me in the process.
“Harry- let go!” I muttered, and after a second he released me, smiling slightly at me. Quickly, I noticed the dark circles under his eyes, his hair messier then usual. I watched as Dumbledore left his office, though the pensieve still had the tell-tale sign that it had been used recently.
“Lily!” Harry cried, keeping a hold on my arms. “I missed you- we missed you! Neville’s been panicking, and Hermione and Ginny-”
“I know, I know!”I laughed, grinning. Harry smiled me.
“It’s great to see you, Flower.” He said, and I rolled my eyes at the nickname.
“Great to see you too, Harry. Now come on, where are the others?” I asked, and Harry nodded as we walked out of Dumbledore’s office and into the hallway.
“Ever since we got your letter we’ve usually been grouped together. I don’t know where Neville is, but most should be in the common room.” Harry explained as we walked up to the portrait.
“Nitwick.” He said, and the door swung open. I stepped through the portrait and didn’t even have a second before I was pulled into the arms of Hermione Granger.
