Partnered Up

Chapter 2

(Sonic's POV)

I was surprised to find Shadow and her brother standing at a locker. I couldn't see in, Mephiles was blocking the locker completely. What were they hiding? Sighing, and continued my way to lunch. They were so secretive. They seemed to have a very strong bond together.. I was afraid to even hurt one of them. I think I would be killed if I even tried to hurt one of them.

I never realized how short Shadz was.. I mean, I'm only 6'0, not the tallest in school. But even her brother was as tall as me. She had to be like 5'0 or less. But god, she was short. I had like an whole head and half on her. How come her brother is so much taller?

Sighing, I needed to get them off my mind. Why was I even thinking about her so much? I don't even like anyone anymore. Not after what Amy did. I.. I can't really trust another girl after what she did. Well, I got Silver still, she really been my best friend from the start of this. The drama started, and Silver has always been there for me. She was probably my only friend here.

Knuckles moved to a different school, Tails is off at college, and I never saw any of the others, not having classes with them. I do have Scourge. But he was just a jerk and a pervert. He always picked on me during class, trying to get me to do things. Sighing, as I saw Scourge making out with another girl. I swear, he makes out with a new girl everyday, even other guys too. He didn't care who it was, I guess.

"Hey Sonic!" I heard a girl voice yell from down the hall, running following it. She jumped on my back, laughing. I almost tumbled over from her sudden weight.

"Oh, Hey Silv." I got a better grip on her, and gave her a piggy back ride. She smiled, holding on.
"So.. What do you think of the new guys?" Silver asked after awhile. I only sighed, and continued to walk outside. She held our lunches as I walked us to a table outside. "That bad huh?" I could just feel her smirking at the back of my head. "Maybe she'll be different. You'll ever know. Plus, She's from a different school and country."

"I don't know Silver.." She jumped off my back, putting her hand on her hips. "Hey. Don't give me that look." Silver only rolled her eyes, and sat at a table, tossing me my lunch.
"I like them. The guy is really sweet." Silver smiled as she pulled out her lunch. I only chuckled at her, of course she had a crush on them. "But they are strange.." I sighed, eating my lunch. "That Shadow chick sure got some big boobs."

"Silver!" I almost choked on my food, coughing violently.

"What?" She smiled innocently, tilting her head to the side. She quietly ate out of her bento.

"You know what... You devil..." Her ears flicked and continued to smile sweetly.

"....She got a nice butt too."

"Nope. That's it." I just stood up and walked away, Silver laughing at me. I know what she was trying to do. I wasn't ready though. Plus, I don't even know her yet! I bet she even doesn't like me. Sighing, she probably doesn't like me.. God, I'm so stupid. Why would she like me in the first place? I'm nothing special, I'm just a guy in small town.

Silver caught up with me, and we just continued to chat till class was about to start. I had gym for one of my last classes, and had to get ready for it. In the boy locker room, everyone changed into the gym uniform, a white shirt with blue or black shorts. While the girls had a similar outfit, just shorter shorts. Silver wasn't in my class, so I didn't have anyone I knew in this class. I bumped into the gym teacher as I was walking out.
"Oh, Sorry." The teacher said, before continuing in. I was shocked to see Mephiles following him. Wait, that means Shadow has to be in this class too! I walked out, and found Shadow sitting on a bench.

I bet we can't even pick our own partners, we'll get assigned one for the rest of the year.

"Hey Sonic!" I was shocked to hear Silver's voice. I saw she was wearing a gym uniform. She was in my class?

"Oh hey, I didn't know you had this class." I scratched the back of my neck.

"It was a last second change. They had to change my schedule around." Silver smile, brushing her hair out of her eyes. "Look who's in our class too!" She pointed over at Shadow, who was pulling her hair into a ponytail.

"Hey! Keep it down. I know she's in our class.." I grabbed Silver and covered her mouth. Thankfully Shadow was distracted by some girl talking to her.
"You are the one called Silver right?" I jumped at hearing a russian accent come up behind me.

"Oh, Yes. I am." Silver said, smiling at him. I couldn't tell whether Mephiles was smiling or not. "What'cha need?"

"I just want to get my names correct." Mephiles looked at me. "And you are the one call Sonic, correct?"
"Oh, yeah.. I am." I was captivated by his eyes, I felt as he was staring at my soul. I couldn't look away or speak. He tilted his head to the side, closing his eyes like he was smiling.

"Very well." How come he was so formal? He didn't need to be like this.. He must of been raised like that. His ears flicked and quickly looked over at Shadow. I didn't hear anything. "It was nice meeting you two again." He nodded at us and then walked away. I was confused and heard Silver sigh dreamily.

"Oh god. I'm not gonna hear the end of this am I" I groaned walking away from her. Already hearing her talking about it. Can class just start already....?

"Alright Class! Gather 'round!" Thank god. "Alright. I'm going to show you the basics, then give you partners for the rest of the year."

We slowly went through the basic routine, it was the same every year. Thankfully, we got through it fast enough and had extra time, once we get our partners.

"Alrigh' Alright! We have an even amount of girls and boys. So I desiced to have boy/girl team. One boy and one girl." I tuned out for most of the names. Hearing 'Damien' and 'Silvya' and others. "Silver and Mephiles." I gasped slightly hearing their names together. I would of swore Shadow and Mephiles would be together. I saw Shadow out of the corner of my eye, and she looked pissed. "Lastly, Sonic and Shadow." The teacher cleared his throat. "Now don't throw a fit. You are stuck with who you got. Now then, free time. Now come prepared tomorrow." Everyone bolted off in different directions. I still couldn't believe I was with Shadow.. Thank you who ever did this. I smiled to myself before going off to the track.
