Chapter 15

(Normal POV)

Another week had gone by, Sonic's strength growing. He even was able to resist blood. After careful consideration, the twins finally decided to let Sonic reappear. So far, Sonic has been missing for nearly a month, more as two and a half weeks. They had a plan where they can have Sonic found in a cave or something. Sonic made himself all dirty and rough looking, trying to play the part that he's been missing. They had to try to do something to fake Sonic's vitals, as he would be considered dead. Sonic set out, hiding in a nearby cave.

The twins then made a later call to the police, to see if they would search around again. Once they met up with the police, they were set out into separate search parties. One group made their way towards the cave, the spotted someone crumpled up on the ground. Shadow rushed past the officers, picking his head up. The officers talked over their radios, as well as running over. One checked for a pulse and sighed with relief. Other officers had surrounded the area, as they wanted to know what happened.

They got to the nearest road, for help from the ambulance. Sonic faked being injured as they cleaned him up. Since he was cold, they gave him lots of hot food and drinks.

"When can I go home?" Sonic mumbled, looking up at the officers.

"After you answer some questions." One officer said, looking him up and down.

"I honestly don't remember getting lost. It's fuzzy." Sonic sighed, pulling the blanket tighter. "I just went for a run and..." Sonic stared at the ground, daze. "It went black... Can I just go home now? I'd like to see my brother.." The officers sighed, not wanting to keep him away any longer from his family. 

"I'll take you home. We'll contact your brother for you" One contacted Tails, as Sonic was getting a ride to his home.

"Can I talk to him?" Tails said over the phone, relieved they found him. The officer handed Sonic the phone as he got into the car.

"Hey buddy..." Sonic sounded tired, but you could tell he was ready to come home.

"Where the heck did you go?" Sonic could hear the sadness in Tails' voice.

"I just got lost for a bit bud... But I'm on my way now.."

"I-I thought you were dead, because of all of the rumors. And with the article of people c-coming up dead-"

"Tails... I'm alive and well. As soon as I get home, we'll spend the weekend together..." Sonic heard Tails sigh, "I'll make it up to ya. Next birthday we'll go do something special for ya..."

"Heh, alright... I'll see you once you get home." Sonic felt bad for lying to him. He didn't have the courage to tell his brother he's now a vampire. How can he just say that to him? How can you explain to your loved one you died? Sonic sighed, relaxing in the seat. He watched the light on the streets go by. It had to be around ten at night, as they wanted their plan to go as they wanted. It took a few hours to even find Sonic, even with the twins help. The cave was off a trail from the road, not their house.

Tails came running out as soon as he saw the police car pulled up. Sonic pulled Tails into tight hug, not wanting to let go. Tails was sobbing hysterically into his brother's chest, finally able to see him after weeks.

"Have you called Silver?" Sonic said, walking his brother inside. Tails shook his head as he tried to calm down. "I'll call her once I take a shower..." Sonic yawned.

"You just need some sleep and such." Tails as he watched his brother walk upstairs. Once Sonic was out of sight, he nearly broke down. He never lied like this too him, and he doesn't know how long he can keep this on. Sonic just went on with the night, not getting much sleep that night.

(Sonic's POV)

It was weird talking with them again. It's been over two weeks since I've been gone, and alive. It's just weird how things kinda went back to normal. Tails and Silver wouldn't leave me alone with stupid questions. I couldn't blame them, but I didn't want them to constanly asking me how I got lost.

"Listen... I don't remember getting lost. It's really fuzzy" I couldn't tell them just yet. I can't just tell them yet. "Can we just drop this?"

"Yeah. Sorry for pressuring you." Silver sighed, picking at her food. I just ate my food, but it wasn't as good as the last time I ate it. Thankfully, I can control my thirst around this many people. The twins were worried that I was rushing this too fast, that it took them months to master their thirst, while I only took a week.

"When do you think you'll hang out with the twins again? Silver said they've been worried sick about you." Tails asked, leaning on the table.

"Maybe tonight?" I looked over at Silver, who was staring intensely at me. "U-Um, maybe you can come with?"

"Yeah, and we can talk about something on the way there." Shit. What could she possibly know? She just smiled at me, before going back to talking with Tails. I couldn't think about anything, but what she could know. Does she know I'm a vampire? Or does she know about the twins? Oh god, what is she going to do when she finds out? I know I didn't show any signs of me being one. I couldn't of, I've been eating, faking my breaths, and did everything like normal.

"Sonic?" I nearly knocked the table over by jumping. "Whoa... Bro?"

"S-Sorry. I don't know what came over me." I sighed, trying to stay calm headed. "I'm just tired still. I didn't sleep much." More like at all. I just couldn't seem to sleep. I was scared my brother was going to walk in, and see I wasn't breath.. I honestly don't know if I can ever tell him. I don't know how he'll react and that breaks my heart. What if he rejects me and wouldn't want me as a brother anymore..

"How about we go back home? You guys can head over to Shadow's if you want" Tails said after a while. He smiled at me, as we started to pack up. I guess this is the best time to feed. It had to be around three and it's been over a day by now since I last did.

Silver called Mephiles once we got back to my house. He said he be there in a few minutes. She dragged me outside, I'm guessing she was going to talk about what she wanted.

"So what is it?" Silver sighed, crossing her arms.

"The twins aren't what they seem... I've been waiting to tell you this.. But since you've been gone, this is the best time to do this..." She took a deep breath, "You know how strange things have been happening in this town, people turning up dead with no reason... Have you notice the twins are ice cold to the touch and they never eat.. They're are pale looking and perfect skin. They use to have an old accent... I know they're vampires. Its one reason why Mephiles hide his face."

"... I know.. I found out a long time ago... When I first started going out with Shadow." Silver was in shock, as I rubbed the back of my neck.

"Wait so you mean, you've known about this?!" Silver started to looked pissed, then sighed. "I guess everyone been keeping secrets from me..." That made my heart break even more. She's my best friend and I was lying to her.

"Silver-" I got cut off by Mephiles pulling up. He waved at us, as he got out. I just gave him a look and Mephiles went right back into the car. Silver got into the front as I got into the back.

"I lost count of the days you've been missing. You don't know how relieved Shadow was when we found you." Mephiles sighed as he pulled back out. The air was tense between the three of us.

"How come you told Sonic before you told me?" Silver crossed her arms, looking at Meph.

"Because he found out before you?" Mephiles didn't know how to respawn to her, without pissing her off. Honestly I didn't know how to respawn to her. She hated secrets, and we were keeping the biggest one.
