Healing Up

Chapter 16 part 2

(Normal POV)

Silver screamed out once she noticed it was Sonic. He wasn't responding to the paramedics as they rushed him into an ambulance. Tear were forming in her eyes as she thought, 'That was supposed to be me...'

She heard cries and groans coming up the hill, as they were bringing up someone. Silver's eyes widen when she saw the state of Mephiles, blood was everywhere. Just as they were passing, she was put in the back of an ambulance, hearing the one of them pulling away

"A-Are they going to be okay?!" Silver said once the paramedic got into the back with her.
"We'll find out once we get to the hospital. Their family is coming right now." The paramedic then leaned towards the front, talking to the other.

Silver stared at the stretcher, as the siren of went off, the car started to move. Her head started to hurt and she just wanted to sleep. She wished this was just a dream. Silver had just gotten her best friend back, and her soulmate. Now, she could lose both of them. Shadow would never forgive her if she was the only one to survive the crash.

Wait, Mephiles is a vampire. Silver didn't know how these things worked, as she feared for him. If he's really okay, then they'll find out his secret. But what if his injuries were too much? What if he could die? Silver knew that she and Mephiles had this weird connection, that they knew when each over was okay or not. But as of right now, Silver didn't feel that connection. It felt like her heart was broken, as if someone tore it out.

Before she knew it, Silver arrived at the hospital. Shouting was heard as Silver passed by people. Nurses and a few doctors were swarming an area. Sonic and Mephiles were already wheeled in, people already trying to work on them.

"Wait!" Silver said, as she saw Shadow and Tails in the seating area. Both of them were a mess. Shadow quickly rushed to Silver, her eyes pleading.

"Silver. What happened?" Silver started to panic when she saw how distressed Shadow was.

"I-I don't know. We were driving then the next thing I know, we were in a ditch." The paramedics started pushing the stretcher again, Shadow following her. "I-Is Meph going to be okay..?" Shadow's eyes drifted to the paramedics, looking back into Silver's eyes

"I-I don't know." After they got Silver all settled, and a nurse checked in on her. Shadow and Silver were left alone. Shadow stared at the floor.

"Is he really going to be okay?" Silver whispered, scared that someone will hear them.

"We've never had something this serious Silver... They'll find out what we are.." Shadow sighed, holding her head. "I don't know how he's holding up, but I know it's a lot of pain.... He's going to need blood. And soon." Shadow said in serious tone, not looking up at her.

"And Sonic...? Do you think he'll make it?" Silver pleaded, as Shadow felt a sharp pain of guilt.

"He's strong. I'm sure he'll make it..." Shadow couldn't look her in the eyes.

"You'll make sure he does... Right?" Silver couldn't believe what she was saying. She literally just told Shadow to turn Sonic into a vampire. Silver can't lose her best friend, not now not ever.

"I-I..." Shadow was shocked, as she didn't know how to reply

"Shadow, promise me..." Silver pled, holding her pinky up. Silver was literally begging, acting as this pinky promise was life or death. Shadow sighed, linking her pinky.

"Alright.. But it is not a definite answer. Sonic might not survive the transformation." Shadow looked around, talking quietly. "I'm going to go check up on them... Tails will come sit with you okay?" Silver could see through Shadow's cool facade, seeing how terrified she was.

Silver nodded as she waited.

(Shadow's POV)

I still couldn't believe this happened. I know these guys are a lot more careful than that, and how did this even happen? Someone had to of had a grudge or maybe Mephiles hit them..

Argh.. I don't understand anymore. I was one of the most powerful vampires and here I am useless. All I could do was watch as my love and my brother 'die' from the injuries. The doctors and everybody else will find out. Everyone will know, and be scared. We'll have to relocate and... Take Sonic away from everyone he knows. I can't do that to him. Just take a deep breath and relax Shadow.. No one is going to find out.

I paced back and forth in the waiting room, they said they'd give me more information later. The room was too crowded for me to be in there with them. I wonder how there doing.. I just hope that they won't reject us by finding out.

"Excuse me miss." A doctor came up to me, his gloves covered in blood. "Can I talk to you in a more private room?"

"O-Of course. Is it about my brother?" I was lead to a private family room, sitting across from the doctor.

"It's about both of them." The doctor seemed to think for a bit, "Are you.. Like them?"

"W-What do you mean?"H-How in the hell did he find out?

"Don't worry ma'am.. I'm not going to hurt them or you. I just need to know. How old are they, really?"

"M-My brother and I are over a thousand." I said after taking a deep sigh, "Sonic is only the age of a highschool student.. What does this have to do with them?"

"I don't really have any experience with Vampires, but your brother needs blood badly. He's not healing as fast as Sonic is. He's actually having a little difficulty. I wondering if you would like to give him some blood. He has to get something into his system."

"O-Of course I will. Does he need it now?"

"We're gonna take both of them up to surgery and then we'll get some blood." The doctor just smiled lightly, "Is there anything we can or can't use? Or anything you want to warn us about?"

"My brother doesn't do well waking up in strange places.. Be careful if he starts to wake up." Sighing, I had to trust this man with my brothers life. More important, I had to trust my brother wouldn't attack them.. "Wait, uh doctor. There is something else."

"Yes, what is it?" He stopped at the doorway, calm as ever.

"You know how we don't have vitals, or what not, but we do have a chaotic plus. When that starts to weaken, that's when you know we're dying."

"Don't worry, you're injured friend already got that covered. Sonic, is it?" The doctor chuckled. "And I'll have the vitals be faked for them too. You guys are safe here." With that, I was left alone.

It was hours later before we even heard about anything. They both made it out okay, plus the wounds were already healing. Mephiles was already a lot better, but he was still in pain. As they were recovering, the nurses came and took some of my blood. With my permission, they decided to keep him under while giving him half of the blood. The other half when he wakes up. 

"Uh, doctor. Our friend, the silver haired girl. She doesn't know that Sonic is one of us." I caught him before he could leave. "We're waiting to tell her, so if you have to give Sonic anything, do it when she's not in the room." He gave me a reassuring smile, and squeezed my shoulder. Once he left, I was lost in my thoughts. Whoever did this to them was going to pay. I'll make sure of it.
