The Mystery Behind the Twins

Chapter 3

(Sonic's POV)

I was running around the track, beating everyone who challenged me. Some people tried to bet, but they would always lose.

"Hey. I challenged you." I only laughed, slowly turning to the oopeanet. I stopped in my tracks, seeing who it was.

"Y-You want to challenge me?..." Shadow crossed her arms, smirking.

"Yes. Now are we gonna race or not?" I couldn't help but blush. I quickly nodded, clearing my throat. "Very well." She got down in a race position, shaking her hips slightly. Sighing, I got down next to her, taking a deep breath. 

We counted down, and took off around the track. God, she was as fast as me! No one was that fast before. I tried to stay in front of her, but she stayed right next to me. As we got closer to the end, I saw her slowly down, out of breath. Finally, an opening! Right as she slowed down, I switched to her lane and bolted off, crossing the finish line. Panting, I used my knees as support, Shadow crossed, panting slightly. 

"Thanks for the challenge Shadz." She was shocked when I held my hand towards her. She was hesitant at first, before quickly shaking my hand. Her hand felt cold for a quick second.

"It was a nice challenge for once." Shadow gave a slight bow and turn away. I watched her walk away, swaying her hips side to side. I tried to hide my blush and focus on something else, but continued to watch her. She looked pissed, and walked towards her brother. She grabbed him by the shirt and brought him down to her height. She mumbled something into his ear and he flinct. I wonder what she said to him.

To be completely honest, She scared me. Shadow was like five feet of pure evil.. Well, what she was like to me. Those twins were so mysterious.

"Hey Sonic" Silver's voice appeared behind me. "Didn't mean to startle you. Haha.." She playfully punched my arm.

"Oh, Hi Silv." Shadow walked over to the weights with her brother, other guys looking over at him. I was expecting Mephiles to be the one benching, only for him to be putting weights on it. Shadow was the one who was benching, and it looked more than the other guys. God, speed and strength? What the hell are they? Geez, are everyone like this in their hometown?

"Helllooo, Earth to Sonic!" Silver grabbed my arm, shaking me. "You're zoning out again."

"Oh. Sorry." I looked at her, she pouting slightly. "I'm just distracted.."

"I can tell." She smiled lightly, looking in the direction of Shadow. Silver laughed at my blush.

(Normal POV)

School had finally finished, and the twins were glad it was over. Only for Shadow to be pissed off at her brother. They had a dark secret that no one knew about.

The twins were in one of there famous argument again, as they walked to long black limo. The surrounding people mumbling and talking about the limo. The driver got out and opening the car door for the twins.

"Come on Shad.. I only did it to get you closer with Sonic" Mephiles said as he got into a back of the limo, Shadow climbing in second.

"I don't need your help. I know he's my mate, I felt that connection. I do not need you help trying to get him." Shadow huffed, crossing her arms across her breast.

"Stop being such a jerk. You already draw all the guys to you. I just thought I could help." Mephiles held his hands up, annoyance in his voice. "Why do you always have to start a fight." 

"I don't always need my little brothers help. I can do things on my own." Mephiles sighed, rubbing his temples. He was starting to get annoyed with his sister's stubbornness.

"I'm only two years younger but I am taller than you. I think you do need my help." Meph had pulled off his mask, revealing large set of fangs. "You need to stop being stubborn. It's going to get yourself killed." He sneered, showing off his fangs even more.

"There you go again. Just stop talking." Shadow, known as Shadz, crawled over to the pair of clothes that were sitting on the seat near the front. She proceeded to undress, picking the clothes up.

"Sometimes I don't know what to do with you." Shad rolled her eyes and threw her shirt at Mephiles. Quickly pulling on a white t-shirt, and taking off the thigh socks and skirt, Mephiles folded up her shirt, sighing. Dark circles had formed underneath his eyes. Mephiles was tired, and looking through his bag.

"That's your third feeding today. And I don't know what to do with you. You've been straining your body too much." Rolling her eyes as Shadow put on a pair of ripped jeans. "And you wonder why I'm so hard on you. Do you need some of mine?" Shadow pulled her hair up in a ponytail as she crawled back toward him. Mephiles sighed in defeat, clearly tired. 

"Sure... I.. I just stressing out slightly." Shadow shoved Mephiles back in the seat, and climbed into his lap. "I do not understand why we had to move."

"Just shut up and drink." Shad sighed, flinching slightly as Mephiles broke through her skin. He tried to not cause his sister any pain as he bit into her neck. " You know the reason why. Plus, we live in a small town that no one really knows about." Tapping his shoulder, Mephiles stopped and pulled away from his sister. "It is our grandfathers house."

"Yeah.. I just still miss our old home..." Mephiles slumped in the seat "Why did this have to happen to us?..."

"I don't know Meph... I wonder why this happened to us but we just have to live with it.." Shadow sighed, the car finally stopping. The limo driver opened the door for them.

Their grandfather is a brilliant scientist, and had an old mansion the two twins could hide at. No one knew of the house older than the builders, and they were long gone. It was the perfect hideout for the twins. They had a few staff, only a chief, a driver and someone to help them around the house. Once they were used to the house, those staff were to leave. The staff had known the twins grandfather for a long time now, and would do anything to protect the two.

Shadow was the first one out, carrying her bag to the house. Sighing, she took in the view. Trees surrounding all around, bringing a breath taking view. From farther away, you would've never thought a house was back here in the wood.

The house itself was not very big. Well, compared to the twins, the house wasn't big. The house had five bedrooms, and three bathrooms. The two twins walked in, Shadow plopping down on the couch, already falling asleep. Mephiles shoved his sleeping sister over, so he could sit. He rolled his eyes, looking through his bag, trying to remember if he had homework.
"Was today that eventful, that your sister is already passed out?" A white hair women said as she walked towards the twins.

"No. She's just lazy." Mephiles rolled his eyes, tossing his bag to the side. "She can do whatever she wants. She is an alpha. I'm only a beta. She's got more power than me."

"And you have more power than us." The white haired women wiped the hair out of her teal eyes. "Now then, how do you like that school."

"It sucks. I do not understand why we have to go" Shadow sat up from her death like slumber. 

"Seriously Rouge, Why do we need to go." The white haired, now known as Rouge, smiled at Shadow's rage.

"Your grandfather ordered it, and it's been at least a hundred years." Rouge put her hands on her hips, "I went there last year."

"I hate the stupid uniforms." Shadow said, crossing her arms, her bust spilling over them.

"You hate everything in this century. Why can't you just give a try." Mephiles sighed, getting annoyed of his sister.

"You've found Sonic, correct?" Rouge said after a moment. Shadow nodded, brushing her hair back behind her ear. Rouge smiled at that, and let the twins do whatever they wanted for now.

A dark evil lurked around the corner, trying to find these twins hideout. For the twins to be one of the most powerful of their kind. If the one seeking after the twins were to married or to be connected with them, they would overtake the twins. Then proceed to take over the world, with their kind. The thirst for blood only rose, the dark evil was growing impatient.
