Chapter 24

Makalipas ang ilang araw ay nakalabas na rin sila ng hospital. Carlos checked them in sa isang hotel. He wants to be so sure that all is well before taking a flight pauwi.

Parang porcelain doll si Cornelia na sobrang iniingatan ni Carlos. Although the doctor assured them that the baby will be fine as long as they follow all advises and that Cornelia should have the right nutrition and supplements, he still insisted on taking extra care when it comes to the welfare ng kanyang mag-ina.

So para na rin silang nasa honeymoon kasi kung hindi naman sila nakababad lang sa hotel room to rest or watch movies, he takes Cornelia out to eat or stroll along the quaint scenic Asian locale ng Siem Reap. Todo alalay siya dito tuwing sila ay namamasyal lalo na ng mag sight seeing sila sa mga templo ng Angkor Wat.

One day, habang nag-aantay siya ng room service for their breakfast, his much awaited parcel arrived. He had it delivered to their room para I sorpresa ang asawa.

Cornelia just came out of the shower when she saw a gift and a boquet of flowers in their bed. Napatingin siya agad sa asawa na nakadungaw sa bintana habang nag-aabang sa paglabas niya.

“For me?” tanong ni Cornelia.

   Tumango si Carlos.

“Open it babe.” Utos nito sa kanya.

Excited na binuksan ni Cornelia ang box and it contains another box designed in paisley print of greys and pink which somehow seemed familiar. Her name was embossed in gold in front of the box like a label. Binuksan niya ito and a tall pink beveled bottle of perfume is revealed. It bears her name also as designed in the box.

“I had it made especially for you.” Sabi ni Carlos. “ Actually, just after our wedding I had a team worked on this scent. And yung box, I had it designed after the dress that you’re wearing when I invited you for coffee before we were married. You had me from there babe.”

Sobrang tamis ang ngiti ni Cornelia sa mga narinig kay Carlos habang walang tigil na pinapaikot sa kanyang kamay ang perfume bottle at inuusisa ito. She popped open the cap and sprayed it on her wrist at agad niyang inamoy.

“Hmmm…Wow!!!...Wait, bakit parang pamilyar?” sabi niya.

“ Talaga?” tanong ni Carlos. “Does it smell like you, when you just came out of the shower?” ani pa nito.

“Yahhh… that’s it! Wow! How did you?... Well… no need nang question pala, it explains why your business is so successful.” Buong paghanga niyang sambit.

“I was sort of obsessed with your smell babe. Gusto ko talagang I bottle your always fresh out of the shower scent.” Pahayag niya habang lumalakad palapit sa asawa. Inakbayan niya ito at agad namang yumakap sa mga bewang niya si Cornelia.

“Who would have thought?” tukso niya kay Carlos. “ I can still remember you shouting at me in Day One.” Malambing niyang pagpatuloy. “ Alam mo kung hindi lang talaga ako natulala noon sa kagwapohan mo…” sabay kurot sa pisngi ni Carlos.

Napahalakhak si Carlos ng patuloy siyang panggigilan ni Cornelia at gumanti rin ito sa asawa sa pamamagitan ng paghalik at pagkiliti dito. Pagkatapos ng ilang sandali ay inawat na niya si Cornelia sa pag-alala sa kondisyon nito. Inaya niya ito sa balcony where he had their breakfast laid out.

At pinagpatuloy niya ang pagkwento dito that the perfume will be a new product line and will be launched next month. He had it scheduled in time for their 4th month together.

She was flattered by everything that Carlos is endowing her with, from his love and affection which is the main reason for all other things that he is giving her.

“Napakaswerte ko talaga.” Mungkahi ni Cornelia. “ God did not only saved our baby binigyan niya pa ako ng isang buong pamilya na makakasama habangbuhay at nagmamahal sa akin.”

Binaling ni Carlos ang kanyang atensiyon sa asawa, nakita niya kung gaano kasaya nito at parang hindi rin siya makapaniwala na magiging sobrang kontento siya just with her company, spending their days like this.
