She was sporting a grin on her face while Gajeel seem to be glaring at her from his spot.
'She had a battle yesterday and yet she still has the energy to go today. Geez no wonder it's so hard to keep her still. She like a ball of energy...well it's kinda ironic since she basically is.'
A shot rang out and both started to run through the course with Gajeel trashing most of it while Kai was having fun. She even teased him a bit when she was ahead of him yet that seemed to provoke him. Gajeel lashed out making him arm into an iron battery ram as he tried to hit Kai. When he finally managed to hit her, he gained the lead while she was still trying to get back on her feet. I was anxious so I yelled out to her to get back in, but I ended up slipping up when I had yelled.
"Come on, Kai! Don't let the old man beat ya! This is a thousand more times easier than the obstacles at home!"
She stood up and raced off getting closer to the old man each passing second.
"Like hell I would lose to the damn geezer!"
By the end it ended up being Gajeel winning and us ending up from our place to last place in the competition. I was laughing as I saw Kai whine a bit yet smiled big as she and the old man shook hands. When she made it back to our section, she whispered in my ear which froze me in my place before heading to Laxus.
"We need to talk."
I looked at her, but she didn't glance back as she kept chatting about what to do about the other black keys should they be used. Laxus shrugged which resulted in Kai hitting him in the head; resulting in a argument to begin with both yelling at each other. I wonder why she wants to...oh."Come on, Kai! Don't let the old man beat ya! This is a thousand more times easier than the obstacles at home!"
She heard me make a slip up. But did the other guilds take notice? She probably just gonna tell me to be careful the next time or else are cover will be blown.
I glanced over at FairyTail B section, where Gajeel was sitting happily eating iron to gain back his energy while the rest of the team looked out to the stadium waiting for the matches to start. I looked once more at Gajeel before excusing myself/ telling Kai that I was gonna get a drink before exiting our section. Right outside the entrance, I slide down and felt something wet on my cheeks. I grabbed my head as I sat on my knees trying to calm myself down as I thought of him.
"Damn it! Why the hell am I even crying? It's not like I...even still having the metal junkie and shadow creeper as my two half dads while having a bookworm for a mom. I'm paying for it big time, aren't I?"
I sat on the ground and noticed a presence but didn't really care about it. I knew who it was and knew that she was always someone you can count on. 'Even when she's dead, she finds a way to help in situations like this.' Even when feeling low, I got up wiped my tears before heading back in with a excuse that the drinks were all sold out. A whine was a response to that. Kai always seems to make all the dark clouds go away to replace it with her seasonal array.
Because of the chaotic seasonal patterns she has personality wise, I can forget about everything and start to focus again but I guess that's what makes people get attracted to her. Because you'll never know what she might pull, but it is sure to bring a smile in the end.
