Frankly, you didn't notice the grin on Heart's face; you just noticed the blade that he was currently tossing into the air casually before he caught it again. He repeated such an action several times before he stopped and focused solely on you. Your eyes followed the dagger's every move. It was lifted higher into the air before being tilted at an angle, ready to zoom through the air at any moment. It was about to be released, but then stopped.
Wishing that this would end soon, you turned your gaze back to the dagger's owner. Beside him, his red-headed brother stood, who was whispering something. You desired to hear what he was saying to his blue-haired twin, but couldn't decipher a word. Leaning your head back on the wooden wheel, you closed eyes and hoped that you could just sleep through this whole ordeal. Sadly, this plan was immediately ruined.
Your eyes shot open, when you felt the wheel begin to move. Secretly, you were wishing that the wheel wouldn't spin. Once again, your wish wasn't granted. Instead you started spinning with the wheel. Furthermore, music began playing in the background. You could tell that there was a guitar playing in the piece and the piece definitely fell into the category of gypsy jazz due to its emphasis on beats two and four. Likewise, it focused on giving a minor feel with the chords. Personally, you would be enjoying this music more if you weren't tied to a giant spinning wheel.
With the wheel spinning and the music playing, Heart readied the dagger in his left hand. Obviously, Diamond had reminded his brother of the two features to the game. Regardless, you had to worry about the dagger that was now being thrown at you. Your breath hitched in your throat and you heard the dagger hit the wood on your right side. Peering out of the corner of your eye, you saw the dagger a few centimeters away from your forearm. It had pierced a blue stripe, indicating a point for Heart. Not like you actually cared about the points; you just wanted down from this awful contraption.
Diamond readied a dagger next before throwing it and then Heart took his next turn. This process continued until each was down to one dagger each. By now, you had daggers all around you, eighteen to be exact. Several rested under both of your arms and were quite close to your chest. Four rested above your head like a demented crown of sorts. Another four were around your legs. The others were near your form as well. Honestly, once you noticed the position of all the daggers, it was like they were making an outline of you on the wheel.
The music played in the background, and you tried to just focus on its pleasant sound. There were just two daggers left and then this would be over. Both brothers were taking a long time on deciding where to aim, since for the last two daggers they were going to throw them at the same time. So far, the two of them were tied, meaning that their competitive spirits were only intensifying. This worried you because they might not be that careful when releasing the dagger into the air. Those blades were sharp and you didn't want to experience one sinking into your flesh.
Soon the sound of metal hitting other metal resonated in the room. You focused on the brothers once more and saw that they had just finished tapping their blades together. It was like they were making a casual toast and not about to toss daggers at someone. With the music in the background, it only aided in creating the image. Thus it wasn't hard to picture the twins wearing tweed vests, striped oxford shirts, trousers and spectator dance shoes. Diamond would have a Tom Collins and Heart with a French 75. If only that were the case, rather than this torment you were currently experiencing.
This evaporated before your eyes, when you saw the daggers coming straight for you. Shutting your eyes, you waited until they made impact. They hit their target and the room grew silent even with the music playing in the background. Feeling no pain course through your body, you could only presume that the daggers hit the wood and not you, thankfully. Opening your eyes, you glanced to either side of you. Not seeing any daggers around your head, you peered downward. A dagger rested on either side of your waist, pinning your shirt to the wooden wheel. At least it was your shirt and not you that got stabbed, though you wished that the shirt hadn't gotten ruined. Moreover, each dagger had landed in a different color, indicating that the brothers held the tie.
"Well, this is unexpected. Why couldn't you miss, Diamond. I wanted to spend time alone with our little queen."
"And so did I. Looks like we'll have to share her this time around."
"I suppose you're right, brother. Now what should we do?" Heart questioned, tapping his right index finger against his chin.
"Have you forgotten our location, Heart?" Diamond inquired with a small smile on his face.
Heart peered over at his twin and a smirk graced his features before replying, "Ah, I see. Yes, let's keep the music and continue the fun."
Both nodded at each other before walking to either side of you. They snapped their fingers in unison, causing the wheel and daggers to disappear. With the wheel gone, your body began to fall towards the ground, but the twins caught you. Heart grabbed a hold of your left arm and Diamond your right. Honestly, you wondered where they stored all the weird devices they summoned, since they couldn't create the objects out of thin air. In the past year, they had explained that they were able to manipulate the space around them and summon objects to their side, but those objects had to already exist somewhere in the world. Thus if you found the location, or the device, you could destroy it and prevent them from summoning it. This sounded like a marvelous idea to you, but you doubted you would actually ever find the contraptions.
Once the brothers stood you up right, Heart and Diamond released your arms. With your limbs free from the restraints and the brothers, though they were kind of like restraints with all their clinging, you rubbed your wrists and tried to console the sore area. Another snap sounded in the room, and soon you glanced over at the red-headed male. In his hands now rested a dark purple dress made out of silk. It had a sweetheart neckline with sleeves that went down to the mid-upper arm. The fabric around the shoulders and sleeves was cinched in multiple sections. Moreover, it was cinched at the waist with a dark purple belt. After the waist it flared out and had a diamond pattern to it.
"Well go change behind the curtain. We'll wait here for you," Diamond stated, handing you the clothing.
Before you left to go change behind the curtain, which you weren't fond of doing, Heart handed you a pair of dark purple character shoes. On your way to the curtain, you noticed the guitar along with the other instruments playing off to the side of the ballroom. The brothers must have spelled them to play with no player like Heart had done with the piano. Upon closer inspection though, you noticed that tiny winged creatures were playing the instruments. They weren't pixies, but something smaller; you would have to ask about it later.
Thus you went behind the curtain and got out of your comfortable clothes and shoes. You proceeded to change into the dress as well as the shoes. When finished, you pulled at the hem of the dress, annoyed at how short it was. Walking out from behind the curtain, you noticed that Heart and Diamond had on different attire as well. They were actually wearing what you had pictured earlier. Diamond had on a black and red striped oxford shirt along with a red tweed vest. Black trousers were on his legs and he had black spectator dance shoes. As for Heart, he was wearing an identical outfit, but in blue and black.
Seeing the two brothers dressed in such way caused a light blush to decorate your cheeks. Thus you looked down at the checkered pattern floor and tried to remember what they just did to you. Those jerks threw daggers at you as well as drugged you and now expected you to just dance with them willingly. Well technically, you had already changed, for if you didn't the consequences wouldn't be delightful. They would probably forcefully change you.
Starting to glare at the floor, the blush still remained on your face. Why did they have to look so attractive in their attire and choose dancing with you as their prize? You were glad that it was the reward they chose instead of something humiliating, but how could they transition easily from something messed up to something normal? Such a switch created turmoil with your emotions, but you had already admitted your feelings to them. Sadly, both they and you knew that you could never take those words back. Before you could think anymore on the matter, your right hand was grabbed by Diamond's left.
His hands held yours and he began guiding you. Frankly, you had no idea what dance he was performing, but you eventually got the hang of it. It had the pattern of rock-step, triple step, triple step. The overall pattern followed a basic step, open position, closed position, side pass, and a tuck-turn from the closed position. Surprisingly, you were pretty good and were actually having some fun, though you would never admit that to the twins.
Passing you over to Heart, who was previously standing on the side, Diamond took a few steps back allowing you two some space. As you were dancing, you recalled the information you had learned back in your world about the swing era and the particular dances. Keeping this in mind, you remembered that these specific steps belonged to the six-count Lindy Hop rhythm. It wasn't as advanced as the dance could go, but you wouldn't feel comfortable about the brothers swinging you into the air, especially with the dress you were wearing. The dress was already lifting slightly with every move you made. Luckily, it wasn't enough to allow the brothers view of your undergarments. Heart and Diamond continued to pass you around well into the evening. You were getting tired, but at least it was a break from all the research concerning the amulet despite how the dance came about.
