"Well, I would be lying if I said that I wasn't looking forward to exploring a new world. On the other hand, though, are you sure you want to wear those clothes for travel, my dear lady?" he asked after you had made your statement while giving you a quizzical look.
Puzzled by this, you glanced down at your attire to see that you were still wearing your pajamas. In your mad rush to be off, you had forgotten to change. Luckily, you did remember to put some black flip-flops on your feet. Despite your unintentional outfit choice, you figured that as long as you had your daggers strapped to your hips you should be fine. Besides, the brothers themselves were just in grey lounge pants and t-shirts in their favorite colors. Moreover, Heart had on blue flip-flops while Diamond had red.
"Hmm, it looks like I'm not the only one with casual wear, though."
"In our defense, Miss _____, we were rushing out here to meet with you."
Rolling your eyes at Diamond's response, you pushed yourself off the statue. Opening the text in your hands to the page with the most information on Generadeneeranovab's scenery, you began to picture it in your mind. Images of the fields outside the city, people buying and selling goods and cobblestone streets weaving through the busy place. Everything in the book's description you imagined in your mind. Putting every detail into the scene, you silently uttered the city's name. The moment the name left your lips, a bright flash of light encased the courtyard. It lasted for a few seconds before dimming down.
Since during the brightness you had shielded your eyes, you lowered your right arm from your face. A small gasp of surprise exited your mouth, as you stared upon a rectangular shape. It reminded you of a door being left opened minus the actual door and threshold. In that space a purple watery substance floated in the air.
Carefully, you walked up to it and reached your hand out. You ran your right fingers through the substance. The feeling mirrored that of touching the softest silk. Pulling your hand back out, you instantly missed the comforting touch of the portal. Your fingers rubbed together, attempting to regain that feeling.
The brothers' movement removed you from your trance. They stood next to you, analyzing the strange thing. You watched them, anxious to see if they could go through the portal. Both of them probably had the same thought process, since Heart walked fully into the portal. Diamond and you glanced at each other before looking around the portal. Heart wasn't there. He had successfully gone through or something much worse happened to him; he could be lost in a space between worlds. Such a thought sent a chill up your spine. Despite the tension that often occurred between the three of you, you still didn't want to send the brothers into an eternity of floating around in a space unknown to you. A fate of that nature shouldn't be cast upon them.
Before you could make a move to go in next, Diamond stepped inside and disappeared, leaving you by yourself. You gave the castle and the courtyard one last look before entering your own creation. Like before, it felt as though soft silk was racing by you, encasing you in a luxurious blanket. Your body relaxed completely under the feeling, but sadly it didn't last long enough.
Within a few seconds, you felt a new sensation around you. Instantly, you blinked a few times before taking in your new surroundings while the portal vanished above you. All around you were tall stalks of wheat; you couldn't see anything besides them except the blue sky over you. Some brushed up against your arms; having a scratchy texture to them and making you want to scratch your skin in return. Under you, though, you felt something soft. It had almost a plush feeling to it. Pressing your hand against it, you heard a slight groan in response.
"My dear lady, as much as I like having you close, could you do me the favor of getting off my back."
Realizing the reality of what you were sitting on, you quickly apologized and got off of Heart. Standing up, you brushed yourself off and looked down at the ground, trying to conceal the light tint of pink on your cheeks.
"Thank you," he stated.
Nodding only in response, you now examined the area again, since you were able to see above the wheat. Thankfully, you weren't too far in. You could see a road close to the two of you. On other side of the road, you saw a stretch of green leaves and recognized the plants to be strawberries. Down the road, more fields expanded over the earth while a few people walked among the dirt path. As for going north, the dirt walkway led to your destination. It was some distance away and was maybe a thirty minute walk from your location.
You knew it was the city because of one simple fact. By the road there was a wooden sign post. Pointing north, the name Generadeneeranovab was written. As for the southern direction, a place by the name of Mareandaqua was etched into the wood.
Seeing that you had reached the city successfully, you noticed that Heart was now standing behind you. Where was Diamond, though? Heart gave you a concerned look, and you returned the gesture. The two of you were about to start searching the fields, when you both heard a distinct grumble of annoyance not too far way. Following it, Heart and you discovered a wooden wagon positioned in the field, so that the farmers could collect grain more easily. Inside the wagon was Diamond.
Currently, he was rubbing his head and adjusting to his surroundings. When his reddish-orange eyes caught sight of you two, he let out a relieved sigh before sitting up fully. Soon he climbed out of the wagon and positioned himself on his feet.
Brushing off the dirt that had stuck to his clothes, he mentioned, "So I take it we arrived in the desired location."
"Yeah, we have probably a thirty minute walk to the city," you answered, pointing to the city to the right of him with your left thumb.
His eyes followed the direction of your thumb before a quiet sound nearing that of a gasp left his lips. A small smile decorated your face due to the slightly childish expression he bore at that moment. It was rare to see him display such a show of surprise and curiosity. Heart, on the other hand, caught sight of your genuine smile.
A soft chuckle sounded from the blue-headed male before he declared, "Hmm, I think our little queen is enjoying your current expression, brother."
Personally, you weren't expecting either of them to see your smile and you quickly sent a glare in Heart's direction. Diamond, learning this news, focused his gaze back on you, as his characteristic smile adorned his lips.
"Tch, I have no idea what you two are talking about. Regardless, I thought you two governed a city. Why are you surprised by this one?"
"Castersin is about half the size of this city. I'm sure you noticed that Valinquinia is also smaller than this city," Diamond responded, turning his eyes back to the massive city.
"Do you even know where to look, my dear lady?"
"Not really, I just know we need to find fruits and honey. At least those are the two items mentioned in the song. Thus, we just need to locate where those stalls are."
Accepting your plan, the two brothers trailed behind you, as the three of you headed for the dirt road. Within a few minutes, you reached the path and headed north for the city. It was awkward walking down the path, though. Residents of the world often gave the three of you strange looks, after they performed a quick scan of your overall appearances. So far, everyone you had seen either had bleached blonde hair or pure white hair. Concerning their eye color, they all had eyes in the hue of yellow or orange. Likewise, their pupils were vertical slits like that of a cat. Furthermore, they all had tanned skin. All in all, you found these individuals exceptionally beautiful. Under their scrutinizing stares, you found yourself feeling supremely inferior.
It didn't help that you were wearing a black tank top and lavender colored pajama pants with black flip flops. This was due to the fact that the women you saw wore chiffon culottes that went down to their ankles. These were in the colors of light pink, crème and off-white. As for their white shirts that were embroidered with golden threads, they highlighted the women's forms perfectly. Gold sandals adorned their feet, adding to the exquisite look. Regarding the men, they wore loose fitting beige shirts that were cinched at the waist with golden rope belts. Well fitted white pants hugged their legs while they wore golden sandals as well. You could only assume that these individuals were not of the farming class, since tending fields in that attire wouldn't be wise.
In fact you were surprised that you hadn't seen any farmers so far. Realizing this, you found yourself staring at the blue sky. It was indeed growing darker, meaning that the markets may be closing soon. If that were so, you would need a place to stay for the evening. Frankly, you couldn't imagine talking to one of the residents due to the looks you were receiving. This night would certainly be something.
