First picking up the blue orb, you were planning to place it on the statue with the two neutral skulls and one sad skull. Your reasoning behind this was due to the fact that the neutral skulls felt no emotion, so they didn't matter. The single sad skull, however, was still present; therefore the overall emotion of the statue was sadness. This plan changed, though, the moment the orb touched your right fingers. Out of nowhere, the feeling of pure rage coursed through you. You desired nothing more than to smash the orb with your bare hand.
Immediately, you withdrew your hand and took a few steps back. Your first idea had been completely wrong, except for the part dealing with emotions. This puzzle, though, had nothing to do with the elements. It was much simpler than that. Personally, you were just glad that you had touched the blue orb and not the brothers. You did not need to deal with the twins going into rampage mode. Still, you would have to put the orb in place as quickly as possible, so as to quell your own wrath.
Breathing in before exhaling, you gripped the blue orb in your right hand and ran over to the statue with three angered skulls on it. On your way there, you could feel all of your anger begin to bubble up within you. Memories, of all the times the brothers pushed their games too far or laughed at your weakened state, flooded your mind. In all honesty in that moment, you wished to scream at the top of your lungs and charge at the twins. Granted, you didn't dare cast your gaze their way. You figured that if you did, you really would carry through with your enraged desire.
Thus, you channeled all of your rage into your running speed and raced towards the statue. The second you set the sphere in the statue's palms, relief washed over you. Noticing the twins' forms soon standing beside you, you glanced upwards at them and gave them a half-smile. Your attempt to reassure them that you were fine didn't exactly work, though.
"What just happened? One moment we were looking at the writing, and when we peered over at you, you were wearing an expression of utmost fury," Diamond stated with concern written across his features.
"There's no cause for alarm. It's the work of the orbs. When one picks one of the spheres up, a certain emotion begins to take over them. That emotion corresponds to the skulls on the statues. The blue orb carried extreme outrage within it. Thus, it made sense to place in on the statue with the angered skulls. Moreover, that's why I looked as though I wanted to murder someone."
"Then perhaps it was a good thing for you to pick up that particular orb," Heart muttered, obviously realizing that he might not have been able to control his rage as well as you.
"Yes, just let me put them in the proper places. Then, I don't have to deal with you two becoming even crazier," you voiced, already making your way over to the orbs.
"Won't it be more efficient if you just tell us what each statue represents? That way, we can all place an orb at the same time. We'll get out of here faster, Miss ______."
That would be true, but you had no idea how the brothers would act under the particular emotions. Granted, witnessing an overly joyous Diamond might be somewhat entertaining. You couldn't help but inwardly laugh at an image of a skipping Diamond. Regardless of the amusing thought, one of those orbs most likely contained uttermost grief. Neither of the brothers deserved to experience that emotion. Perhaps, though, you could prevent that if you determined which orb held that certain emotion.
Originally, you presumed the blue to hold sadness, but it contained rage. Thus, its opposite was red. So, the red sphere had a good chance of accommodating sorrow. You could be wrong, but it was the best you could do. There was no way of absolutely knowing until you touched the sphere.
Glancing between the brothers, you decided that you might as well tell them. "My theory is that the happy, sad, happy statue depicts joy, since two happy skulls outnumber one sad skull. The one, with the two neutrals and one sad, represents sorrow due to the neutrals having no effect. This statue was the one I was originally standing at. As for the last statue, it has three surprised skulls, meaning it portrays shock."
"Sounds simple enough," the twins responded in unison.
Once all of you were in front of the orbs, you positioned yourself, so that you would grab the red one. Heart was by the green one and Diamond by the yellow one. After all of you counted down from three, you each grabbed one. Upon doing so, you felt a rush of amazement. Your gaze turned itself onto your gold and silver ring, as your mouth hung open slightly. Thoughts like "sh*t, I'm married" and "the ring is permanent" ran through your head. All of these combined to give you the beginning of a massive headache.
Sparing no time, you began to make your way to the according statue. As you turned to go that way, however, you saw Diamond just staring at the yellow sphere. His right hand was trembling, and he was muttering inaudible phrases in a rapid voice. Noticing this, you knew that you had to hurry and put your orb in its place in case Diamond required aid.
Furthermore, you now had learned which emotion was stored in the green orb. Casting a quick glance over at the blue-haired male, you saw him skipping high into the air while he sang about eating a pile of sweets. You wouldn't mind watching that scene for a little longer. Well, at least you had something to tease the male with; you would make sure that he would never forget this moment.
Pulling your thoughts back to what needed to be done, you rushed over to the statue, while your mind continued to dramatize details about past events. It was annoying how at every second you became utterly astounded by the fact that you were married to the twins. When you set the orb in the palms of the statue, you breathed a sigh of comfort.
Focusing back on the brothers, you noticed that Heart had just put his orb on the proper statue, but Diamond was still in the same place. His blue-haired twin turned around and locked his gaze onto his brother. It seemed that you both had the same idea to help the male. Thus, the two of you went over to the red-haired male, who was now uttering words loud enough for both of you to hear.
"I'm such a failure. I let her be captured. How could I allow that?" he kept repeating, making you quite confused.
"Heart, what is he referring to? I haven't been captured during this journey."
"He's most likely remembering how he felt when you were captured by Umelius's elites. We should just drag him over to the statue. Based on how much he is repeating those phrases, there's little hope in bringing him back to his senses until he's been rid of that orb."
"In that case, let's move him," you answered, as you secured your hands around his left arm, while Heart gripped his right arm.
With each of you holding one of his arms, the two of you started to drag him over to the statue portraying sorrow. When you reached the statue, you both lifted his arms up, so that his hands and the orb were positioned over the statue's palms. Heart and you proceeded to grip his wrists before pulling. This caused him to drop the sphere into the statue's hands. Not a second after this occurred; Diamond blinked his eyes a bit before glancing at the both of you. Releasing his wrists, Heart and you gave him some space, as he lifted his right hand up to his face.
Calming himself down, he pushed his red bangs back before blinking any remnants of tears out of his reddish-orange eyes. "I'm sorry you had to witness that, Miss _____."
"There's no need for apology, Diamond. I just didn't know you were that shaken by my absence."
"Both my brother and I were. Honestly, though, you're such a curse to us. Causing me to be like this, it's so cruel, Miss _____."
"Tch, don't give me that. You two are just as much a curse to me."
"Wait, then that means..." Heart begun, but was cut off by a loud rumbling in the room.
Where the spheres once were, a doorway began to open up, as the stones in that area started to move upwards. Treading across the sand, you made your way over to the opening. Occasionally, you would glance at the sand, dreading to think what would've possibly come out of it had you put the orbs in the wrong spots. Thus, you were quite glad to set foot upon a stone walkway again.
Soon, though, the two brothers joined you on the stones, and Heart appeared determined to finish what he was saying before. Noticing this, you turned your back on them and started to go down the hallway. Hearing Heart's statement, however, caused you to halt your movement for just a moment.
"My dear lady, are you admitting that you would break down if you lost us? Would that really be the case?"
Remaining silent, you smiled a bit at his questions before moving once again. There really wasn't a need for you to reply. They knew the answers, and you refused to voice them for now.
