Morning of the Carnival

After the dance finished, you realized how tired you were despite the fact that you had been knocked out for some time. Your exhaustion was no doubt from the stress of being tied to that wheel and the several hours of dancing with the twins. They probably desired to wear you out. By now, your feet hurt and you wanted nothing more than to rest on a comfortable bed. Due to the past few weeks, you had grown accustomed to having your own room again, but then you remembered the dreadful arrangement that existed at this castle; the brothers shared a room with you.

Rather than arguing with the twins, you just marched to the room and got a quick shower before changing into some pajamas. Once you finished your night routine, you collapsed on the bed and surprisingly fell asleep rather quickly. With this in mind, you didn't have to deal with the two twins until you woke up later in the morning.

Thus when you opened your eyes, you glanced at the clock that rested on the nightstand to the left of the king-sized bed. Noticing that it was eleven in the morning, you went to get up, but found Diamond's left arm secured around your midsection. He was currently lying on his stomach and his hair was out of his ponytail. You still weren't used to seeing him with long hair and you were tempted to run your fingers through it while he was asleep. Avoiding this temptation though, you looked over to your right to see that Heart wasn't there. Confused, you managed to push yourself somewhat up, but it wasn't easy with Diamond's grip on you.

From your uncomfortable position, you saw him curled up on the floor. Presuming that he had fallen off in his sleep, you stifled a chuckle and rested again on your back. Your (e/c) eyes glanced at the flat screen television on the wall and you couldn't help but wonder why this world didn't have any other modern technologies. Maybe they just needed such entertainment from time to time and preferred the old method of communication rather than using cell phones. Then there were computers; why did they lack those as well?

"Is something wrong, Miss _____?"

Peering over at Diamond, you saw him let out a quiet yawn before his reddish-orange eyes held your gaze from behind red bangs.

"Well maybe the fact that you're preventing me from getting up, but otherwise I wanted to know why only televisions exist in this world. What about other technologies?"

Only a small smile graced his face at the beginning of your statement, but he soon replied, "Well we didn't actually even have televisions in this world until thirty years ago. They were invented by two individuals, who explained how they functioned and what needed to be set up in order for them to work, but they went missing shortly afterwards. Over that time frame, people here developed them into what you see before you. As for other technologies, we've never had any others developed and even the televisions have lost their popularity. Not too many people actually wish to own one.

"I doubt there will be any around or working in the next few years, since the individuals in charge of the broadcasts are thinking of taking them down. Everyone in this world has some aspect of magic and can find ways of entertainment that way. In fact they prefer that over watching a screen for long periods of time. Even the televisions on the train will be taken down, if they haven't been already. The only reason we own one is because of the letters we received from Chroma. As I'm sure you noticed, she did mention seeing a television in your world from the music box. Thus we thought we would get one for you when you arrived."

"Well, I guess thank you then for the television and I suppose I can understand that. What about communication though? Surely, if Chroma saw the television, she would've seen my phone that I had back in my world. Wouldn't everyone want faster communication?"

"Yes, she did mention a device by that name; however we already have fast means of communication. There are others with abilities like my brother and me; it's just that their capabilities aren't as powerful. They can only perform transportation of themselves and summoning small objects like letters. Thus most of them are messengers and they can deliver a message within a second. The only reason why communication is slowed with Valinquinia and Clarencia's castle is because of the barrier over those areas. Why do you wish there to be such technology in this world?"

"I've grown used to not having it around, so it's not really a bother. I was more curious than anything, and I guess I can grow accustomed to no television. There seems to always be something going on anyway, so much so that boredom doesn't exist for me too much anymore."

"See? What would you do without us, my dear lady?"

Looking over to your right, you saw the blue-headed male resting his arms and chin on the bed. His knees were most likely resting against the floor and supporting him at the current moment. Frankly, you were about to reply with a sarcastic remark, but stopped when you saw the condition of his hair. Your quiet chuckle turned into full blown laughter. Currently, his hair was disheveled, seemingly beyond repair, and stood up in multiple locations. Puzzled, the male glanced at his brother, who couldn't help but laugh quietly as well.

"What?! What's so funny? I'm not wrong in my statement, right brother?"

"Not at all Heart, but you should check the condition of your hair."

Somewhat doubting his brother's suggestion, he went into the bathroom anyway and silence followed before you heard a drawer being violently opened. There were probably a few quiet curses as well, but it was hilarious. You soon felt the arm around your midsection being removed and saw that Diamond was getting up. Glad to have his arm off of you, you sat up in the bed as well. Diamond gave you a small smile before heading into the bathroom.

Pushing some of your strands of hair back, you sighed, however you were glad to see that the brothers weren't in the mood for playing a game. You had enough for awhile and wondered how you ever maintained your sanity during the very first games you played with the brothers. Never did you want to see that village again or that blasted game board on their ship.

Taking another look at the clock on the nightstand, you were pleased that it was still morning. This would allow you to set out to the carnival before it became night. The monsters that lurked in there were anything but pleasant. Moreover, you were certain that the manager was still alive. Thankfully this time, you would be armed with your daggers. Hopefully though, you wouldn't come across him again. Two encounters were enough for you.

With both brothers in the bathroom, you grabbed the necklace or collar from the nightstand where the clock was before going into the walk-in closet. Locking the door behind you, you rested the necklace on one of the hangers and decided what to wear for the day. Since you were heading out to the carnival, you needed something that would be easy to maneuver in. Thus you wore a black cotton vest, purple long-sleeve v-neck and beige cargo pants along with a pair of black socks and black running shoes. You placed your pajamas back on the hangers to wear another time. Attaching the necklace around your neck, you stepped out of the closet only to run into something, or rather someone. Feeling skin beneath your fingertips, you blushed furiously and took a few steps back.

"You're so adorable, my dear lady," Heart said before ruffling your hair a bit and walking into the closet.

"Tch, whatever," you responded, shutting the door behind you before Heart could make any other comment.

All you heard was chuckling on the other side of the door. Waiting by the bathroom door, you leaned against the wall. Diamond exited the bathroom within a few minutes. Luckily, he was wearing a bathrobe and not just a towel like his brother.
He noticed the necklace around your neck and glided his right fingers over the jewelry before whispering, "Good girl."

You glared at him, even though a blush tinted your cheeks. Huffing, you went into the bathroom and completed your morning routine. Once the brothers were dressed, the three of you headed into the dining room for breakfast. Heart wore a blue and white striped vest with a black v-neck underneath. Blue pants accompanied his outfit along with blue patent leather shoes. Diamond had an identical outfit on, but in red. He had red hoops in his ears while his blue-haired brother had a blue hoop in his left ear.

Sitting on your left side, Heart muttered, "So I'm assuming, we're heading out after we eat."

"Yes, I want to get out of there before dark."

"Miss _____, you forget that it will be quite dark in certain parts of the boat ride. Inside, it will not matter whether it is the morning, afternoon, or night."

"Of course that's the case," you began, sighing in the process, "though I imagine we can actually skip past the rest of the carnival due to your two's abilities."

Both twins glanced at each other before they looked back at you and Diamond said, "Well sadly, we can't perform such a task. We'll have to take the horses like last time, though the basket will be back on the Ferris wheel by now. Thus we'll need to push the horses hard, if we want to reach the carnival before night."
