Finishing your snack in the produce section of the market, the three of you made your way over to the east side of the market. Of course, it was a struggle reaching that side due to the crowds. The brothers helped you shove people out of the way, causing some to glance at the three of you before giving all of you a quick stare. You were tempted at times to return their stare or give them a piece of your mind, but you reminded yourself to focus on the honey. Remembering Victoria's comment, though, you thought that maybe it was just because they didn't get many outsiders in their city.
Pushing those thoughts aside, you almost cheered for joy at arriving at the east end of the market. Granted, you couldn't see any honey as of now, but according to Diamond's information, it was here. Currently, you could just see stalls selling bars of soap and different kinds of candles. Moreover, you could smell the various scents wafting through the air. Fragrances of lavender, jasmine, lemongrass, orange, and many more filled the atmosphere. You were almost tempted to stop by one of the stalls and pick out a bar of soap for yourself, but you reminded yourself to stay focused.
Your wandering eyes, however, didn't go unnoticed by the brothers. Both glanced at each other before they guided you over to the one of the soap stalls without your consent. You were confused at first, but then you noticed their destination.
"This isn't the time to be shopping for these things, you two. We need to find the honey."
"True, Miss ______, but we don't know when we're coming back to this market if we ever come back that is. Thus, let's pick up a souvenir."
"Besides, my dear lady, we saw how you were admiring the scents of this place, so let us treat you."
"There's a catch, isn't there?" you questioned dryly.
"Of course, my dear lady, you have to take a bath with me."
The moment those words left his lips, you stopped abruptly, as your face flushed considerably. Pulling your arms away from the both of them, you scowled at the blue-headed male before turning to walk away from the two of them. Diamond, however, caught you by your shirt collar.
"I'm not taking one with you either, Diamond."
"I wasn't going to suggest such a thing. I merely wanted to state that my brother was joking with you. There is no catch involved. We just wish to buy you a gift, since you seemed to enjoy the aroma coming from the soaps and candles. Would you prefer a candle instead?"
Managing to get out of his grip, you crossed your arms over your chest and looked between the two twins. Heart still had that arrogant smirk of his plastered on his face, but Diamond seemed genuine enough. Sighing, you walked between the two of them and towards the stall. Examining the various soaps, you noticed that a select few were shaped differently from the typical rectangle. Instead, they were cut into shapes of various animals.
A small smile etched itself onto your lips, as you noticed how cute they were. Not wanting to spend too much time here, you just pointed at the one shaped like a bear cub, which just happened to smell of red plum and freesia. The brothers smiled at your compliance before Diamond paid the man behind the stall. You were curious as to where he kept the money, but you figured he was just transporting it from the bag into his hand, though; he made it appear as if he was grabbing it from his pants pocket. Once the bar of soap was paid for, the man placed it into a small pouch and handed it to you. Thanking him, the three of you began walking towards your goal.
"Thanks, I guess," you mumbled, as you continued your search for the honey.
With the abundant amount of noise coming from the crowds, the brothers could barely hear you, but they still did. Diamond gave you a small smile in return while Heart just grinned like usual. Running your fingers over the small present, you pulled your pack off and slipped the bar of soap into it. Putting the pack back on, you were now certain that you wouldn't lose it. If you continued holding it, someone might bump into you, causing you to drop it. With the soap secure, you focused back on the street in front of you.
Frustratingly enough, it was mid-afternoon by the time you caught sight of the honey, since the east part of the market was much larger than the northern side. When you noticed, though, that there were only a few honey stands, your hope shrank. None of them looked like they held a clue to where the oceans of Hanec could be. Perhaps, one of the sellers had heard of the place. Trying to remain optimistic, you proceeded towards them. Coming up to the first one, you were about to ask the seller if they knew of Hanec, but another's voice halted you.
"Honey! Fresh honey gathered from the island of Hanec!" shouted out a young girl's voice.
All of your attention shot in the directions of her voice. When you saw which stall she was at, you rushed over. Upon seeing a customer, she beamed up at you. The girl had bright yellow eyes and bleached blonde hair, which went down past her shoulders. Part of it was pulled back, but most of it remained down, while her bangs, which went down to her nose, framed the sides of her face. Her short-sleeved white shirt hung loosely on her torso and was decorated with gold embroidery in the designs of small flowers. Crème colored culottes covered her legs and gold sandals adorned her feet. As for her height, she was probably about five feet and three inches. Concerning her age, she looked to be about sixteen.
"Ah, how may I help you?" she inquired, wearing a wide smile.
"You mentioned Hanec, and I was wondering if the oceans of Hanec surround that island."
"Why of course they do."
"Do you know how to get there? It's very important that I reach that location."
"Hmm," the girl mused, resting her hands on her hips, "today is my last day at the market, since I need to restock. As you can see, I only have a few jars left to sale. I'll be heading back to the island when I'm done selling. If you help pay for your share of traveling fees, you're welcome to join me. Company will actually be nice for a change, since once you get out of the city limits, it is possible to be ambushed by thieves. Luckily, it hasn't happened to me before, but still having some protection would be welcome."
She was clearly eyeing the daggers that were strapped around your hips, as she finished her statement. Honestly, though, you were just glad to hear such news. It was like you actually found the needle in the haystack.
Without any hesitation, you responded, "That would be great. I'm sure my companions wouldn't mind the arrangement. I'm curious as to how you can trust me, though. I've mostly received strange stares from people."
"Hmm, you look like someone with interesting tales, and I'm lover of stories. I keep a pretty simple life, so of course I'll take the opportunity to meet an individual, who is not from around these parts. Besides, you seem like a nice person. If you do try to rob me, I'll make sure to send the bees from my farm after you," she finished, chuckling in a joking manner a bit towards the end.
"Well, thank you very much then. Did you want me to wait around here and help you?"
"Actually, if you could start loading up my empty crates onto my cart behind my stall, I would greatly appreciate it. Do you mind introducing your two companions, though?" she inquired, glancing worriedly at Heart and Diamond, who were standing a little behind you.
"Oh, yes, forgive me for not doing that earlier. The one on my right is Diamond and on the left is Heart. If they give you any issues, feel free to chuck them out of the wagon."
Heart, after hearing your comment, flicked you on the forehead and mentioned, "She likes to make terrible jokes. Please, don't feel like you have to laugh at them."
"Well, Miss ____, we'll go load up those crates. Furthermore, I wouldn't attempt such a stunt. You do know how we get some times," he added before going to the wagon with Heart following him.
"They seem like an intriguing pair," the girl voiced, as you joined her behind the stand.
"Trust me; intriguing doesn't even begin to describe them. Regardless, I believe I haven't properly introduced myself either. My name is _____," you spoke, holding your right hand out for her to shake.
Gripping your hand with her right one, she replied, "Nice to meet you, ______. My name is Iris. Now, since your companions are loading up the crates, why don't you help me sell these last jars?"
"Certainly, you're taking me to where I need to go. The sooner we leave the better."
"Couldn't have said it better myself. I want to reach my bee farm, so I can check up on my family. I don't want to leave my two little sisters alone for too long. They can take care of themselves, but they're still young. Anyway, it will be a pleasure traveling with you, ______."
"Agreed, I will enjoy our trip, Iris," you responded, as you began to aid her in selling the last jars.
