"Oh my god, Ted. Slower, slower please.""No, I can't. I want it to come fast," Ted said and I panted.
We laughed and giggled as we ran through the woods. He held my hand so I could run at his pace. We dodged the trees and rushed ahead. We were only a short distance away from the campsite and he promised me that this place which he wanted to show was nearby. Besides, wandering around deep in the thick forest would be dangerous too.
We ran and Ted suddenly stopped. He looked up and his eye twinkled like the countless stars. I too looked up and my face lit up immediately.
This was the best spot so far to watch the northern lights. There was clearing of all the tall trees in the area with only short, stunted trees and shrubs around. The trees surrounded us, leaving the centre space and sky empty for us to appreciate the beauty of the northern lights. The scenery was mesmerising.
"This is so beautiful," I whispered.
"And so are you," Ted said and I laughed loudly. He was just joking and teasing me, so I ignored him. I punched his arm playfully, without even glancing at him and continued to look at the northern lights.
"I can never get tired of looking at this," I mumbled in awe and admiration.
"And I can never get tired of looking at you," Ted said in a husky voice and this time I immediately turned towards him. I looked at him and realized that he was already looking at me. What the hell was wrong with him?
We stared at each other. I didn't realize the next events that took place. He leaned down towards me and within seconds, his lips connected to mine.
I froze and my eyes turned as wide as saucers. My vision became blurry and I felt weak until I felt a light squeeze in my hand. Ted squeezed my hand in assurance and comfort. My body relaxed. That's when I surrendered and my lips moved against his.
I never knew that I had kissing skills. My first kiss was in the eight grade and it was a huge failure. I never kissed anybody again from then. But this kiss was so much different and special.
I liked how our kiss was soft and slow unlike the steamy, hot kisses which were possible only in movies. I liked how he held me, instead of slamming me against the walls. I liked how his lips tasted of sweet pastries, instead of mint. I liked how we kissed under the northern lights.
I liked every bit of this moment. My wildest fantasies were not even a penny against this moment. I was kissing this deliciously, handsome boy under the northern lights! The best atmosphere that the magnificient view and ambience could offer. It was better than kissing under countless stars or kissing in front of the Eiffel tower. It was better than anything else, because I was with him.
