*Emma's POV

The rest of 4th period was a drag, except for the fact that I was holding hands with my adorable dork. Slow down, Emma. He's not yours...yet. But boy did I want him to be. I wanted to have him on my arm walking around school, showing everyone that he was off limits. I wanted the girls in school to know that he was mine, even though none of them seemed to show any interest in him. That was their loss.

I knew that the whole student body would hear that I asked Killian out, if they hadn't already. Regina and the others would have never started the rumor, it would be Graham and his squad of cavemen to spill the news. I didn't care, I wasn't ashamed of wanting what I want. If people started making fun of me for having a crush on Killian, I would just tell them to shove it and get a life.

I didn't care about anyone else's opinion. The only opinions that mattered were the ones that belonged to my friends, and I knew they were beyond thrilled I had finally taken an interest in someone. Well, at least most of them were. Ruby didn't know about my steamy make out session with Killian or that we were going on a date. I wondered how she would take the news. I swear to god, if she said one rude or insulting thing about my adorable dork, she could kiss my friendship goodbye.

This was Ruby we were talking about, so that would probably be the case. I hope she'll keep her big mouth shut for once for the sake of our friendship.

Killian and I walked hand in hand to the cafeteria. People staring at and whispering about us the whole way. I rolled my eyes and told them to take a picture, it would last longer. Killian couldn't help but laugh.

He offered to wait in line to get our lunch while I went to talk to Ruby about recent developments, so she wouldn't be out of the loop. We hadn't even gone on a first date yet and Killian was already acting like the perfect boyfriend. Man, I lucked out meeting him.

I saw Ruby walking to our table with Regina and Mary Margaret. I quickly ran to catch up with them.

"Hey guys," I greeted.

"Hey, Em," they said unison as they sat down.

"Is Killian gonna sit with us again today?" Mary Margaret asked hopeful.

"Killian? Are you talking about the Dorkinator?" Ruby snorted.

"His name is Killian, not the Dorkinator, or Count Dorkcula, or any other of your bitchy little nicknames," I hissed, failing miserably at keeping my cool. I hated when Ruby got this way, acting like us so-called populars were royalty and everyone else were peasants. She sounded like that cow Milah.

"Yeah, and you better start getting used to Killian because Emma and him are going on a date this Friday after the game," Regina said, backing me up.

Ruby nearly choked on her food. "So the rumors are true? You seriously asked him out?"

"Yep," I said, making a popping sound on the p. "And he's going to be at the game, too. Mary Margaret invited him."

"Em, what the hell is wrong with you?" Ruby practically screeched. "You've got every guy in this school drooling over you, you could have any number of them, and you choose the dorky new kid?"

Ruby must want me to sucker punch her right in the lip, because that's where I was headed. No Emma, calm down, use your words. Don't let your temper get the best of you, even though she deserves a good punch to the face. I took a deep breath and just shook my head at her disappointedly.

"I thought we were best friends, Ruby," I started. "But a true friend would be happy for me and respect my choice, even if she doesn't agree with it. I hoped you would be like Regina, Mary Margaret, Robin and David. They're happy for me, I thought you'd be too. I think I'm gonna sit with Killian alone today. I'm sure you guys understand why."
