Emma's POV
Killian's eyes were still bugged out of his head as he stared at his parents sitting across from me. I had to stop myself from laughing at Mrs. Jones' reaction to Killian's little outburst.
I'd actually been very much in the mood for some mind blowing sex, until his parents showed up on our doorstep an hour ago.
"Mother, Father, why the hell are you here?" Killian demanded still in shock.
I didn't want Killian to find out they were here like this. I wanted to be able to ease him into it first before letting him face them. But it was too late now.
"It's nice to see you, too, son," Killian's mother greeted with heavy sarcasm. "Long time no see."
"It's been 10 bloody years and you just show up here out of the blue," Killian angrily accused.
"It's not our fault you completely cut us out of your life. We--" Mr. Jones began to say.
"As a matter of fact it is your fault," Killian hissed, cutting him off. "You made me choose between Emma and you, and I chose Emma. And then you disowned me. Did you honestly expect me to want anything to do with either of you after that?"
"Look, Killian, we didn't come to dwindle on the past," Mrs. Jones sighed. "We made some mistakes and we regret them. It's been a decade since we've seen you. We've missed you terribly and we came to apologize."
It was so strange to hear her sound sincere and kind. She actually sounded like a mother, instead of Medusa.
"Well, guess what? Apology not accepted," Killian snarled. "So you can both show yourselves out."
"Killian, they came all this way to see you. At least hear them out," I whispered, as I stood up and caressed his cheek to soothe him. He was beginning to get all red in the face, and after the day he'd had, he didn't need this extra stress. He instantly relaxed under my touch, but I could still see anger brewing in his eyes.
"Even if they truly are sorry, which I highly doubt it, I don't want to hear anything they have to say," Killian shook his head, his voice more soft now that he was speaking to me. "If you really missed me and wanted my forgiveness, why didn't you come 10 years ago?" He demanded, turning to glare at them.
"Because we were still angry and hurt that you chose Emma over your own parents," Mrs. Jones explained, her tone full of pain as if she'd just been wounded. If anyone had been wounded, it was Killian.
She was trying to make him feel guilty, and no matter how hurt she was, she had absolutely no right to do that. Neither of them did. I'd allowed them in to try to make amends like they claimed they wanted to, but not for them to start pulling this crap.
"Don't do that. Don't act like I betrayed you, I did no such thing," Killian spat. "You are the ones who betrayed me. You insulted the woman I love and tried to break us up. You didn't even try to get to know Emma, you just judged and looked down on her the whole time. My wife is a better person than the 2 of you could ever hope to be. Oh yeah, did I forget to mention we got married? And I'm not sorry that you weren't invited," Killian snarled as he lifted my left hand up for them to see his grandmother's ring on my finger.
"Yes, Emma told us about that. And we're very happy for you both," Mr. Jones half-smiled. He seemed to actually mean it. "And we understand why you didn't want to include us. She also told us about Henry," he added the last part quietly.
