Week 4:

"I can't believe I'm back to stay!" I called and flopped on the spare room bed. Sure, I was going to miss my mum but she didn't seem to feel the same so why bother fretting over it? Tyler jumped on the bed beside me,

"This is going to be so great. There was so much we didn't do last time you were here," he went on with a large list of things to do. I couldn't think of where to start.

"Okay, okay. I get it! There are a lot of things to do in Darwin," I covered his mouth with my hand, "Ew!" I cried as a thick layer of slobber was applied to my palm. I wiped it on his shirt.

"Come on, we'll do our old secret game," he poked me impishly. I sighed,

"Can you really call it old if it is from a few days ago?" I asked and he kept pestering me. He stopped,

"I don't know, can we?" we both thought for a moment, "I mean, is it really old?" there was silence. I could feel an existential crisis about to occur so I changed the subject,

"I'm afraid of moths," it was a secret I'd never told anyone before. Tyler looked at me as though he were about to laugh, "It's true, moths are just the butterflies ugly cousin!" now he laughed out loud.

"Okay, I've got one! I hate clowns," he lay back and sighed,

"What's wrong with clowns? They embarrass themselves just to make you laugh,"

"Really, with their heavy make-up, crazy hair and those horrible clothes? It's a fashion killer if I've ever seen one," I looked over at him.

"Really, you're afraid of their fashion choices?" he nodded. I thought for a moment, "I'm afraid of trees,"

"Why? They keep you alive," he looked at me like I was crazy.

"They could fall at any moment, they burn easily and they just look scary," I vented about trees,

"I'm afraid of people in suits," he said,

"Oh my god, like tuxedos?" he shook his head,

"No, people in costumes and stuff. Like that Santa that sits in the shops during Christmas or those people that walk around in costumes with head pieces," he explained.

"It's because you can't tell who's under the mask, isn't it?" I asked. He nodded. His phone buzzed in his pocket and he checked it.

"Joey and Ryan want to meet up, do you want to see a movie?" he told me,

"Why go out to see a movie when you have Netflix," he sat up and looked at me funny,

"Are you a vampire or something? We need to get a bit of sun, can't stay inside all day," we decided to see a rom-com. We had a bit of food and started walking to the movie theatre.

"Ahh! The light, it burns!" I laughed as we walked. We got to the cinema and met Joey and Ryan. We bought our tickets and entered to watch the movie. It was beautiful. Once it finished we left.

"Fifty first dates is my favourite movie of all time! Adam Sandler is an amazing actor," I gushed as we walked away.

"If I lost my memory of you, would you do what he did?" Tyler asked.

"Of course," I smiled at him.

"It was a really good movie," Ryan said and Joey agreed. They hung around for the afternoon then they went home. Tyler and I were left alone because his mum had gone out with a few of her friends. We were sitting watching an episode of 'Death in Paradise',

"So, Ada, I have something to tell you," he spoke up. I muted the show,

"Yeah, what's up?" he took a deep breath.

"I think I might be gay," he choked out. I looked over at him,

"Okay?" he seemed really worried. I patted his shoulder, "So what?"

"You're okay with it?" he asked, he looked astonished. I nodded,

"Why wouldn't I be? I had my suspicions for a while but I honestly don't care if you're gay, bi, straight or whatever they call those people that prefer animals," I shrugged,

"What do you think my mum will say?" he seemed to be very afraid.

"She'll say exactly what Adalyn did," Jackie spoke up from the corner. She was resting against the wall smiling slightly, "Honestly Tyler, I don't know why you were so worried. I'm your mum, I'm stuck with you no matter what, and I wouldn't care if you were gay, bi or straight. Just make sure you aren't one of those weirdos that have a thing for animals," she held her arms out and he got up and hugged her.

"How did you know Adalyn?" he turned to me and I shrugged,

"You called me boo and you called me babe. You're also afraid of clowns because of their clothes," I smiled.
