That night, Squid still couldn't sleep. Every time he closed his eyes, the accident played over and over again. His eyes started to get heavier and soon they closed and the flash back happened.
Flashback:
I then hear Tom yell,
"Squid move".
I look up and see an oncoming speeding car and I freeze and the next thing I know is I was pushed out of the way by Tom and I'm on the ground. I was in shock. Then I realise something. I quickly get up and turn around to see Tom on the ground not moving and the car gone.
"Tom!"
End of flashback.
"Tom!" Squid yells as he quickly sits up in bed.
Sweat dripped down his face. He looked around the room and saw that it was still nighttime. He couldn't go back to sleep, he just couldn't. He then went out onto the roof and sat up there again. After about five minutes he heard footsteps start to approach him.
"Can't sleep?" Lee asked from behind him.
"No, I can't, I keep remembering back to what happened" Squid stated
"I can't really say I know how you feel but, I understand what you mean"
"Lee, have you ever had a gut feeling that your doing the wrong thing?"
"Yeah I have, before we all became friends, everyone was mean and that was the only way to fit in, I didn't enjoy it and I knew it was wrong, but I was selfish and went with it"
"Well, how do we know what's right and what's wrong?"
"It's hard to judge, you go with your gut, your heart and your mind, not just one of them because sometimes, one tells you one thing but the others tell you different. You follow the stronger choice"
"Your going to be a great school captain Lee, I know it"
"You reckon?"
"Yep, I just wish I was like you, calm, collected, always knowing what to do"
"Squid, don't put yourself down mate, you may make mistakes but you've learnt from them haven't you?"
Squid nodded
"You are who you are and Tom wouldn't want you to be upset. He's strong, he can get through this. If you stay positive and keep it together, it will make him happy"
"Thanks Lee"
"Anytime, hey look, the suns coming up"
"Always look on the bright side of things they say, it's hard, but I'll get it in the end"
"That's the spirit".
