"Just get out of bed already!" I hear Cassie yell. I groan pulling the blanket off my head and open my eyes to look at her.
"No." I state ducking my head back underneath the warmth of the blanket.
"Jess. I'm not leaving until you decide to get up. You've been here for at least a week and haven't even attempted to leave this filthy room." She says in a disgusted tone.
"Leave. Me. Alone." I say.
"No." Cassie simply states and I feel her slump at the bottom of my bed.
After a few minutes I give in, "Fine." I sigh sitting up and resting my back against the headboard of my bed.
"Please tell me what's wrong Jess." Cassie whispers taking a seat next to me, I shake my head.
"No. I don't want to talk about it okay?"
"Fine, but you will have to tell me...eventually. I'm not letting this go." She says in an annoyed tone. I know I will have to tell her about everything, she deserves to know the truth.
It has been a week since my break up with Jason and I can't stop thinking about him. I had shut everyone out and Cassie had been here almost every single day trying to talk to me about it and get me out of the house.
"Go get dressed, we are going shopping in the next town over. Your dad left some money for you before he headed off to work earlier."
I quickly make my way towards the bathroom to have a quick shower and get changed.
When I am finished I walk back to my room to find Cassie lying on the floor, reading a magazine.
She looks up when she notices my presence, "Oh honey." She says, "This is the best you've looked this whole week." She laughs and I stick my tongue out at her. "Very mature." She giggles, getting up from the floor.
It had been a very long day of shopping with Cassie in the next town over and now we were sitting at a restaurant waiting to order dinner.
"What would you like to order ma'am?" The cute waiter with chocolate eyes asked me, snapping me from my thoughts. "Uh.. Just the steak and salad." I reply, he nods writing my order down in his notepad. "And for you?" He turns to face Cassie. "I'll have the same." She smiles before he walks away, taking our menus with him.
"He was so cute!" Cassie squeals, I laugh and shake my head at my best friend. "It's good to see that you're over Jason." The words slip out. I see Cassie tense, "Yea.." She mutters looking away.
"Sorry for going all weird. It's just been hard, you know, getting over him." Her voice shaky.
"Yea I know the feeling." I sigh and I see Cassie's eyes widen.
"What?" She asks, confused. Shit.
"Nothing. I'm just agreeing. Sorry, I haven't been that good to talk too lately." I admit.
She nods her head and we don't make anymore small talk until our dinner is served.
When we have finished our meal we make our way up towards the counter to pay.
"So my shift finishes in about ten minutes if you two wanna come to a club with me." The cute waiter says to Cassie as she swipes her card.
Cassie looks at me with a big smile on her face.
"Yea, sure." She states calmly without looking at the waiter.
"I'm Cole by the way." He finally introduces himself to us as he gives her the receipt.
"I'm Cassie and that's Jess."
"Cool.. Where do you two want to meet?" He asks, "It's up to you." She says in a flirty tone, I don't like where this is going.
I block out the rest of their conversation and images of Jason and I walking along the beach together play through my mind.
You're an absolute idiot, Jess. A voice in my head speaks and I agree with it.
"Cole wants us to meet him at this place called 'Vibe.' It's just down the street apparently." Cassie smiles as we walk out of the restaurant.
I nod my head and follow Cassie as we walk towards her car.
Cassie opens the trunk and our shopping bags are stuffed in the back. "Here." She says handing me a black dress which she had bought earlier that day. "You wear this dress and give me your shorts." She demands.
I nod getting into the car to change so people don't see me. I quickly change into the dress and hand Cassie my shorts.
This dress is so short on me because I'm much taller than Cassie but it still looks good.
Cassie slips into my shorts and changes into a sparkly black top which she had also bought earlier.
"Lipgloss." Cassie says, handing me the small tube of strawberry lipgloss.
When we are done getting ready we leave and make our way towards the club, 'Vibe' which is down the road.
There is a long line outside the club of people trying to get in, the music is pumping and I spot the waiter, Cole, from earlier.
"There he is." I inform Cassie and she smiles walking towards him, I follow behind her.
"Hey girls." He greets us with a big smile, he's changed from his uniform to a tight navy blue tshirt which shows off his muscles and a pair of dark jeans.
Be both greet him and stand along side him in the line that enters the club. "You guys are old enough to drink right?" He whispers as we approach the bouncer standing at the door and Cassie nods. The bouncers big arms are covered in tattoos.
"Hey Cole." He smiles, his voice is deep. Cole steps forward, "Hey Joe, these girls are with me." He informs him and Joe, the bouncer, lets us through past the rope.
When I enter the club for the first time I spot people grinding up against each other. It reminds me of the first party I went to with Cassie and Jason except this is much more sophisticated than your typical high school party.
"You want a drink?" Cole asks both Cassie and I at the same time and I nod my head. Cole quickly leaves towards the bar area and Cassie grabs my hand to pull me onto the dance floor.
The music is pumping very loud and people are dancing, throwing their hands up in the air. This place sure does have a good vibe.
"This is so fun!" Cassie tries to yell over the loud music playing. I nod my head in agreement.
A few minutes later cole returns to find us on the dance floor. He hands me a glass of red liquid and I begin to drink it, not liking the taste at first because its so strong but I start to like it as I drink more. Cassie seems to be enjoying her drink as well. All three of us begin dancing together.
"I need to go to the bathroom!" I yell over the loud music. Cassie pulls away from Cole, who has hand his hands on her hips the whole entire night. "You want me to come with?" She asks and I shake my head not wanting to ruin her fun, I just want to be alone.
I have had about 5 drinks so far and my head was spinning out of control. I make my way towards the bathroom and push past couples making out.
I find an empty stall once I am in the bathroom and close the door as I sit down next to the toilet. I rest my head against the cool wall and I start thinking about Jason again. "I wish he was here." I say to myself.
My phone vibrates against my hot skin and I grab it from my bra where it's been all night.
'Are you coming home or staying at Cassie's? - mom xx'
I read.
'Staying at Cassie's- Jess xx'
I reply.
I scroll through the contacts of my phone and stop at one name in particular, Jason.
What am I doing?
I tap on his name and there is a call or delete button waiting to be pressed. Before I know it I have clicked the call button and I begin to hear the phone ringing.
I want to press end so badly but I just can't do it.
"Hello? Jess?" I hear his husky voice answer. I have missed not hearing it for this past week.
"Jason." I reply, my voice is small.
"What's wrong?" He asks.
"Nothing, I just wanted to hear your voice." I sigh shaking my head.
There is a long pause and I almost hang up before I hear him say, "Me too."
"I miss you." I say out loud and then quickly hang up and quit the call. I didn't plan on saying that but my stupid mouth won't stay shut.
