Jason and I are sitting on my bed right now, I have told him everything that happened today.

"We need to be really careful now if we want our relationship to be a secret." I state after we are silent to a few minutes.

"Or we could just come clean and tell Cassie about us?" Jason offers another solution.

"No.. No definitely a bad idea." I say, shaking my head.

"Why not Jess? What's the worse that could happen?"

"She would never talk to me again! We've been best friends for forever and I can't just let a boy ruin that friendship." I speak without thinking.

I quickly look up at Jason and see hurt flash through his eyes.

"I didn't mean it like that Jason." I say resting my head upon his strong shoulder.

"Yea, I know Jess." He mutters looking at the ground.

"When are we going to tell her though? I don't want to keep this a secret any longer."

"I.. I don't know.. Can we just wait a few more weeks?" I try plead with Jason.

"Sure..however long you need Jess." He responds with sadness in his voice and I feel really bad.

On one hand I will hurt my best friend by telling her that I'm with her ex and on the other I'm hurting my amazing boyfriend by keeping him a secret. When did being a teenager become so hard? I mentally slap myself.

I rub circles along Jason's back and he sighs.

"I should go." He says, standing up. I stand up with him and we hug each other before he heads out.

What the hell am I going to do?

I don't leave the house the next day as I can't face Jason or Cassie.

It is now Saturday. I hear a knock on my door and my mothers head appears from around it.

"Hello honey." She smiles as she steps in.
"Hey mom." I say sitting up.
"I just wanted to check up on you and see if you're okay." She takes a seat at the end of it.
"No I'm not." I reply.
"Do you want to talk about it?"
I shake my head at first but then I realise that maybe it's a good idea to talk about it.

"Have you ever done anything to ruin a friendship with someone?" I ask and she looks surprised.
"Like what exactly?" She replies.
"Lets say a friend and her boyfriend broke up and you started dating her ex but she had no clue." I say, my cheeks are starting to turn red because I know my mom realises it's about me.

She is silent for a few minutes but then she simply says, "That is something that could definitely ruin a friendship. Jess. I don't have a clue what you're getting yourself into but I don't want to see you getting hurt." She looks angry.

"I..I.." I have no idea what to say so I don't look at her.

She stands up from where she was sitting and leaves my room. I feel more terrible than I did before.

5 minutes later there is another knock at the door and I groan and shake my head as I straighten up again waiting for my mothers arrival into my room. The door creaks open and in walks Cassie. She's dressed in the new skirt she bought the other day and a tight tank top.

"What are you still doing in bed?" She asks flicking her hair over one shoulder.

"I just got up.." I mutter.

"Oh okay! Well we are going out tonight!" She exclaims.

"Where?" I asked confused. We aren't old enough to get into any clubs and there isn't much to do around this stupid place anyways.

"I heard that there is going to be a bonfire at the beach tonight so we are going. Anyways... Jason will be there." She smiles, thinking about all the memories that she has shared with him.

Bonfire? Jason didn't tell me about any bonfire. I feel very hurt.

"Where did you hear that?"

"I spoke to Skylar yesterday when I went for a swim at the beach and he was telling me about it and that he and Jason were going." She beams.

Since when were Cassie and skylar friends?! What the hell.

I look up at Cassie who is smiling as she waits for my answer, not that I have a choice in this. "Okay." I simply state and she claps her hands together, jumping up and down like a little child.

She still hasn't mentioned that my dad let it slip that I have a boyfriend but I decide not to bring it up.

I dress in pair of dark denim shorts, along with a long sleeve top and black hoodie and slip my feet into a pair of black chuck Taylor's as I wait for Cassie to get here.

Jason hasn't texted me all day and I get really worried. What if he wants to break up? I shake my head to try clear those thoughts. There could be a possible reasonable explanation for this Jess, I try to reassure myself.

She arrives wearing a blue maxi dress with a cute black jacket to keep her warm.

We leave for the bonfire.

We arrive at the beach and there are about 20 people from out year all standing around the fire talking to each other and drinking alcohol. The music is playing veey loudly and I can't see Jason anywhere. Cassie grabs my hand as we begin to push past everyone towards the fire.

My eyes search for him but he's nowhere to be seen.

I look to my left but Cassie has gone off somewhere and left me here all alone.

"Hey Jess!" I hear from behind me.
I turn around, "Hey Skylar." I say unamused.
"Wow, can't believe Cassie actually convinced you to come here." He laughs.
"What's that supposed to mean?" I snap.
"Sorry." I quickly apologise and turn away from him. I can't be around him anymore.

"Jess. What's wrong?" I hear Skylar ask, I turn around again to meet his confused expression.
"Nothing. I'm just looking for someone okay."
"Well do you need help?" He offers but I shake my head to decline and he looks hurt.
"Have you seen Cassie?" I finally sigh and he nods. Good. Whenever Cassie may be then it's definitely where Jason will be as she trying to find out who his mystery girl is.
"I saw her go that way about ten minutes ago." He says pointing behind him.
I push past him as I try to find Cassie.

As I'm walking through the crowd a feel a strong grip around my wrist and try to pull away but instead I'm pulled into a firm chest.

I look up and my eyes meet with Jason's piercing grey eyes.
"Hello." He smirks looking down at me.
I bite down softly onto my bottom lip as I stare into his eyes. We haven't seen each other in two days but it feels like forever.

His eyes are bloodshot and I can already tell that he's drunk. Of course he is.

"You're drunk." I state the obvious.
"And you're beautiful." He laughs putting a strand of hair behind my ear.
I want to kiss him so badly.
"We can't here." I whisper pulling away from him.
Hurt flashes through his eyes and he lets go of my arm before storming away.

Shit.

"Jason come back! I'm sorry." I call out but he doesn't turn back.

I give up looking for Jason after 10 minutes. Wow. That boy is really doing my head in. He is so frustrating.

I sit down at an empty seat and put my head on my lap as I try to block out everyone around me.

"Jess." I hear Cassie's voice and she places a hand on my shoulder. I jolt up and look at her, "where have you been?" I ask sternly.
"Looking for Jason.." She admits.
"So, did you find him?" I ask in an annoyed tone. She shouldn't be looking for MY boyfriend anyways. If only she knew.
She nods her head. "And?" I continue to be rude to her and I know she doesn't deserve this.
Her bottom lip starts to quiver and she sits down next to me, "he was really drunk so I wasn't trying to take what he said seriously." She begins, "he said that he has liked this girl for over a month now and they've been dating for about two weeks." She cries. "He said that he wasn't in love with me anymore! How can he say that after 8 months of being together?" She throws her arms over me and I run my hand down her back soothingly.

"Shh.. It's okay." I reassure her but its actually not. It's far from okay. It's actually pretty messed up if you ask me. I'm the worst friend ever.

I keep holding Cassie tightly as I try to hold back tears of my own.

"I'm going to find out who that bitch is and make her life a living hell." Cassie finally whispers in my ear and I start to feel really scared.
