I awoke to the annoying sound of my phone buzzing.
I groaned and found my laptop next too me. I picked it up and placed it on my night stand.
I got out of bed and rubbed my groggy eyes and yawned. I realized my phone was still buzzing and picked it up.
"H-Hello?" I said, stuttering because I wasn't fully awake yet.
"Jessssss... Where areeee youuuu?" I heard Cassie's drunk voice.
"I just woke up, what's the time?!" I exclaimed, realizing that I was supposed to be over at Cassie's for the BBQ.
"Mmhhmmm.. It's like 7." she laughed.
"I'll be over soon!" I cried out and hung up the phone.
I put on a simple white dress and silver gladiator sandals with a black cardigan and left my blonde wavy hair out, flowing down my back.
~.~
The sun was just starting to set as I left for Cassie's house and the warm summer breeze was blowing my hair and I had to hold my dress down to keep it from blowing up.
When I got to Cassie's I decided to walk around to the back of her house where I thought everyone would be.
I saw a bunch of girls from our school sitting around the pool and hot tub with their bodies on display and looked at them with disgust.
Girls always complain about how the guys at our school just want them for their body and not their personality. Mhmmm I wonder why?
I mentally laughed to myself and saw Cassie, hanging onto Jason's arm with a drink in her hand, laughing like a wild hyena.
"Jess!" she screamed when she saw me and came running over to hug me.
Jason looked over and smiled at me and I returned the favor.
"Hey!" I exclaimed, holding Cassie in our warm embrace.
Jason's POV
I watched as Jess had walked in, my eyes were glued to her and I couldn't take them away.
I had been thinking about her ever since we spoke at the party last night.
I know that it was wrong but I just can't help myself.
I smiled at her and she smiled back, making my heart skip a beat.
Stop it Jason! You can't think this way! It's your girlfriends best friend for gods sake! I said, mentally yelling at myself.
There was just something about Jess, she was special. Unlike any other girl I had met before.
I wonder why I hadn't noticed her before?
You need to get over this little crush of yours Jason. You have one of the hottest girls in school but now you want her best friend?
Shit, this is gonna be an interesting summer.
Jess's POV
"Grubs up everyone!" Cassie called out from the kitchen and we all made our way to where the food was set out.
I grabbed a plate and put some potato bake, a piece of chicken and some salad onto it.
"Are you gonna eat with me?" I asked, looking over at Cassie.
"Nahhh... I think I'm gonna be sick!" she said, placing her hand over her mouth and running upstairs.
I laughed to myself and walked outside to sit down at the bench. It was a full moon so it was pretty bright outside and I wanted to be away from everyone.
"Hey, mind if I sit here?" I looked up to see Jason smiling, taking a seat next too me.
I shook my head and smiled.
"So what brings you outside?" he smiled, his white teeth glowing. Gosh they were just so perfect.
"Uhmm, I'm not really friends with most of those people inside. Only Cass." I said, looking embarrassed.
"I'm your friend." he smiled.
"Yeah and you!" I laughed, nudging his shoulder with mine.
"Thank you, for helping last night." He said, placing his hand on mine. "It meant alot."
I felt an electric shock run up my arm and quickly shifted my hand away from his.
"Sorry, I shouldnt have done that." he said, his eyes shifting away from me.
"It's alright." I whispered.
"No.. It's honestly not. I shouldn't even be talking to you when I feel this way!" Jason exclaimed.
"What-what are you talking about?" I asked, with a shocked look on my face.
Jason looked up at me, staring into my eyes. His beautiful grey eyes glowing brightly. He leaned in closer and put his hand around my neck pulling me in for a kiss.
I should have pulled away but I just couldn't help it. His lips were so soft, our mouths moving together in sync.
Everything was just so perfect, until I realized that he is my best friends boyfriend?!
I quickly pulled away, horrified as to what we had just done.
Jason had a confused look on his face.
"I'm so sorry!" he exclaimed, looking around to see if anyone had seen the kiss but nobody seemed to be around and he just got up and left me, sitting at the bench with mixed emotions.
The best thing to do was to get away from him, as far as possible so I ran home without even saying goodbye to Cassie. I couldn't possibly face her after what had happened with her boyfriend.
I was still so confused as to what happened with Jason. "I shouldn't even be talking to you when I feel this way!" Jason's words kept running through my mind.
What did he mean by that?
I kept pacing up and down my bedroom. It's okay Jess, I told myself. It was just a misunderstanding! I reassured myself.
~.~
I didn't get any sleep at all last night, I kept playing what happened with Jason and I over and over again in my head.
I was so confused, his words kept ringing in my head which only gave me a headache.
"Ugh." I groaned, walking over to the bathroom to get a panadol.
When I went back to my room my phone was buzzing.
It was an unknown number.
"Hello?" I answered.
"Jess. It's Jason." The deep, husky voice grunted.
"Why are you calling me?" I asked, shocked.
"We need to talk." His voice sounded desperate.
"Look, I'd really appreciate it if Cass didn't find out about last night and I know you probably wouldn't want to risk your friendship with her over one little kiss." He whispered.
"But-" I tried to say, but he cut me off before I could finish my sentence.
"But it was a mistake, yeah I know." He cut in.
I started blinking uncontrollably, I could feel the tears in my eyes and I was trying to hold them back, I didn't want him to hear me cry.
"Yeah, it sure was!" I finally spat out, hanging up on him.
What he said hurt me. Sure he was my best friends boyfriend but he and I both know that, that kiss was not a mistake.
Jason's POV
"Who were you talking to?" Cassie purred in her soft voice.
"Nobody." I lied, walking over towards her, pushing her down on the bed and placing my lips onto hers.
"It's not the same as it was with Jess!" a voice in my head yelled at me.
I tried to ignore it, but it was right.
