Jess' POV
I was now laying on Jason's bed with him. I had told him everything about my little encounter with Skylar before which caused Jason to become very angry and he started to come up with all the possible violent things he could do to Skylar right now but I calmed him down before it got to that point.
"He just never gives up does he? Even after you told him you had a boyfriend!" Jason yells.
"You know maybe this is a good time to tell everyone we're dating so he can stop, along with Cassie! Maybe those two can date each other." Jason sighs sitting back down.
I shake my head, "It's a bad idea." I say.
"You're only worried about losing your best friend Jess. Don't you think she would be more pissed if she finds out 2 months from now instead of now, the present day!" He exclaims. I know he's right but right now I'm being selfish. I want the best of both worlds but I know I can't have it that way for much longer. Eventually Jason will get tired of sneaking around with me and he will tell her himself. I wouldn't blame him if he did.
"Please just give me one more week Jason! One more week and I promise I will tell her." I whisper.
"A lot can happen in a week." He sighs resting his head on the wall.
"I know." I agree and lay my head on his chest.
"I should go home soon. My parents thought I was just going for a walk and I don't have my phone on me." I admit.
"Okay." Jason replies sitting up.
"I just gotta change. You can stay in the room." He winks, "Or you could just go wait downstairs. I don't want Skylar near you though." He sounds all possessive which is hot. I go with the second option and wait downstairs for him. Jason promises me he will be no longer than 10 minutes.
I sit on the soft beige couch in the lounge. "Hey blondie." I hear Natasha's voice.
"Natasha." I greet her as she takes a seat next to me, she doesn't look happy.
"You know he likes you right?" She states.
"Who?"
"Don't play dumb. You know exactly who I'm talking about." Natasha snaps which makes my blood boil. How dare she be so rude to me. What the hell have I ever done to her?
"Yes I know." I reply answering her previous question.
"Don't you dare fucking hurt him or you will have me to deal with." She hisses. And finally it clicks. Natasha still has feelings for Skylar.
"Is that a threat?" I question, "No it's a promise, blondie." She laughs the same cackling noise I've been hearing all day long which is making me angry.
"I know you like him too. I'm really sorry... That Im not sorry because I know he doesn't feel the same way." I smile, feeling triumphant.
"Bitch." She says coldly.
"Takes one to know one right? Don't mess with me Natasha. No matter how nice I may look, don't you dare mess with me." I whisper getting up so I can look down at her. I don't know where this new found confidence has come from and I am shitting myself on the inside. I'm scared that this girl will punch me because it looks like she isn't afraid to break a nail when it comes to girls like me.
"Hope you have a good weekend here." I smile and she flicks me off.
~2 days later~
It was now Monday which equals fun day right? Wrong.
I groaned as my dad woke me up from my sleep. "What do you want?" I cried out as the curtains were pulled back and the bright sunlight shone into my room.
"Dad!" I yelled pulling the blanket over my head.
"Jess Marie Sommers." My dad stated, "Wake up. I have a surprise!" He laughed pulling my blanket off me. This made me angry. "What?" I say rudely as I sit up. I hated being woken up, especially on a Monday.
"You have a letter..." He smiles holding up a relatively big letter with my name printed on it. I know exactly where it's from.
There in his hands my dad held a letter from the University of Florida. I had applied for it before the summer started and forgot all about it with everything that had been going on.
I quickly snatched the letter out of his hand. "Excuse me young lady." He raised an eyebrow. "Sorry dad! I'm just so nervous." I admit kissing his cheek and he nods. "Let me know the good news when you're ready." He replies leaving my room so I can be alone to open up the letter.
It's just like ripping off a band aid, Jess. I try to calm myself as I begin to tear open the letter. Once the envelope was open I pulled out the piece of paper containing vital information that would ensure I had the best possible future for myself. I opened up the paper and read it.
'Dear Miss Sommers. The University of Florida would like to inform you that your application to apply to the University of Florida has been accepted.'
I stopped reading and started screaming. I can believe that I was accepted.
"Jess, honey! What's the matter?" My dad came rushing in. I shoved the letter in his face and after a moment he started screaming too.
"I'm so proud of you honey!" He exclaimed and we both jumped up and down hugging each other.
"I have to go see Cassie!" I need to tell her the good news. I didn't care that I was still in my pyjama booty shorts and tank top. I quickly put on a pair of flip flops and ran out the house towards Cassie's home a few houses up.
"Cassie open up!" I exclaimed pounding on the front door.
The door quickly opened and I practically leaped inside.
"You got in?" She smiled when she saw the letter I held in my hand. I nodded excitedly.
"Well done Jess. I'm so proud of you!" She exclaimed, hugging me.
"What about you? Have you opened it?!" I gasped pulling away and Cassie's bottom lip started to quiver. My stomach dropped and so did my smile.
I watched as the tears started to roll down her cheeks.
"I didn't get in." She sobbed. I felt so bad for her. We had both agreed we would apply to the same college and now I got in and she didn't.
I feel like I have caused Cassie enough pain this past month. First I steal her boyfriend away from her behind her back and now I get into college and she doesn't.
"You did apply for another one right? Maybe you will get into that one." I offer words of encouragement to her.
She shook her head, "No. I thought I would get into this one." She admits.
"Cass." I sigh hugging her.
"I should have listened to Jason." She begins to cry harder on my shoulder.
"He applied to both the University of Florida and Miami. I'm such an idiot." She mutters. Jason applied for the University of Florida? I had no idea, not that we have been talking about college lately. I'm curious to find out if he's gotten in.
"Shh.. No you're not sweetie." I wipe her freshly fallen tears away.
I spend the rest of the day with Cassie and we have a hills marathon whilst eating cookie dough ice cream. Not one word is said about college or Jason.
I get home at about 5pm and my mother is already home from work. My father and her are both sitting at the large oak wood dining table with Chinese take out. When my mother spots my presence she stands up and runs over to me, her heels making a clack clack sound as she throws her arms around me pulling me in for a right squeeze. Last time we hugged like this is when I got my license.
"I'm so proud of you sweetheart! You definitely deserve this!" She exclaims as we pull away.
I smile in appreciation and we all sit down for a nice meal of take out.
Later that night I call Jason to see how he's doing.
"Hey." He answers cooly.
"Hi." I smile to myself.
"What's up?" Is all he says.
"I got a letter from the University of Florida today." I state, jumping right to the point.
"Me too." He admits letting out a big sigh.
"I got in." We both say at the same time.
"What?!" We repeat in sync.
"Okay let's stop this. Congrats, Jess. I'm so happy for you." He laughs.
"I'm happy for you too. I hear you applied got the University of Miami as well."
"Yea I got into that one too."
Wow...
"Oh.. Which one are you going to go to?" I start, I want to know what will happen to our relationship if he decides to go Miami instead of Florida but I'm just being selfish thinking about it. We still have another two months together no matter which one he chooses and we can still work things out if he decides on Miami.
"I'm not sure, I still have to discuss it with my parents. They're thinking Miami..."
"And what are you thinking?" I respond.
"Well I was thinking Miami but now maybe Florida doesn't seem so bad since I know there's this cute girl who's gonna be there." He laughs a bit.
"You can't just go to Florida because that cute girl is going there. Think about your future, Jason." I say sternly into the phone.
"Jeez, Jess. You sound just like my mother." He snaps.
"I gotta go okay? Call you tomorrow." He hangs up before I can say goodbye.
The next day I wake up at 10am. It's a good thing my father didn't wake me because I am in a terrible mood from that phone call with Jason last night. All I did was tell him to think about his future for a change instead of me and I get my head bitten right off. Well excuse me for caring! My life is like one big soap opera and I'm the main star.
I roll out of bed and head straight for the shower.
When I'm done I change into yoga pants and a blue off the shoulder top.
I make my way downstairs and sit in the lounge watching TV.
Once the clock on the wall strikes 12pm I think it's time I deserve some food. I notice a note sitting on the kitchen counter telling me that my mom and dad have work until late so they will just stay at the office and see me tomorrow evening so the house is mine for the night.
I heat up some left overs from last nights dinner and begin eating. Not very long after the doorbell rings.
I'm annoyed because I was enjoying my delicious food and groan as I open the door to face Skylar.
Great.
