Chapter Twenty-One
I yawned and looked over at the vampire.
'Where're we going?' I yawned again.
'Where do you think?' He asked lethargically.
'You don't sleep- how can you become sleep deprived and bitchy?' I was too tired to sound incredulous.
'Who said I don't sleep?' He asked, and I shrugged.
'I dunno, I just assumed.' I muttered. 'I mean, there's gotta be heaps of stuff that you lot assume but aren't sure about Rogue Demon Hunters, right?'
'And by 'you lot' you mean supernatural creatures.' Jensen asked dryly.
I nodded. 'Yeah, so? Isn't there anything you've heard but aren't sure about me?'
'Why is it just you?' He started. 'What about all the others?'
I looked away and rested my chin on the heel of my hand. 'There aren't any others.' I muttered.
'I'm the only one.'

Grace snorted in her sleep and jolted awake, sitting up after a second.
'Wha' I miss?' She yawned big.
'Nothing.' I stretched my legs as much as I could in this tiny space, and waved a hand. 'Jensen, continue.'
'Are you immortal?' He asked after a second's hesitation.
Grace and I looked at each other, then burst out laughing.
'You...think...Alex...is immortal!' Grace gasped, tears of laughter streaming down her face.
'Oh,' I sighed as the last boughts of laughter were shaken out of my shoulders. I wiped a tear away and said, 'You're funny.'
'OK, whatever.' Jensen's hands tightened over the steeringwheel and he stared out the windshield angrily.
I sobered properly. 'No, I'm not immortal, though don't tell anyone. I like that little air of mystique and longlivity.' I smiled.
'Are you?' Grace couldn't keep the contempt out of her voice.
Jensen shrugged. 'I'm not sure.'
'How old are you?' I asked.
'We're here.' He pulled to a rough stop just inside a crappy little tourist town.
Opening the door, I struggled to stand straight. 'Where's my motorbike?' I asked.
'Is that really important right now? This is as far as we could go to get away from the cops back there, and the first thing you want to know is where your motorbike is.' Jensen shook his head.
'I can't find anything wrong with that question.' I said.
'Can you smell that?' Grace stuck her nose in the air, standing beside me. 'I don't know what it is, but it smells good!'
As she said it I smelt it too, and my stomach growled loudly as I realised I hadn't eaten since before the bank job.
'Can we get something to eat?' I asked, following Jensen towards the little restaurant. It was probably the biggest building in the whole tiny town, from what I could see at any rate.
'You're going the wrong way!' Grace called as Jensen walked around the side, and I saw the little motel rear its head behind the restaurant.
'Can we at least order room service?' I asked.
