Chapter Two
'I didn't choose him.' I said angrily. 'We better get out of here. Where's Hunter?'
'Who?' Grace asked, following me.
'The kid that was with me.'
'Dunno. He ran away. Are you sure you're feeling alright? You look really pale.' She commented.
'The demon bit me.' I said, and staggered to the wall as the world spun and blacked out.
I woke and choked on my own blood. I shot forward, choking and retching. In seconds I was covered in blood.
I felt Him before I saw or heard Him- the sudden coldness in the room as all the hope was sucked away.
'Your existence has always been interesting.' He said. The floors rocked from the pressure of His voice.
'Glad you think so.' I whispered, my voice rasping. I stared at the floor as I felt Him step out of the shadows, even as they followed, not daring to look up.
The tattoo on the back of my hand burned painfully, and I struggled to breathe through the thick shadows. 'Why are you here?'
'I watch over you from time to time. And I've seen that vampire from time to time too. Your existence has lost some of its humour and humility. Perhaps you should find him.'
'What the hell is that supposed to mean?' I asked, staring at a small puddle of blood.
'You've become boring.' He said simply. 'Perhaps he could make it better.'
'Well not that the offer isn't flattering and all...' I said sarcastically. I risked a look up and immediately wished I hadn't- there's not way to perfectly describe how...horrific even what was left of His AURA was. Heavily muscled, which is always a plus, rolling black and red skin covered in moving tattoos and monsters displaying the Sins, Demons, etc. A crown of flames hovered between His horns, and a jagged arrow-head tail swung dangerously. And the pure, utter, ANIMAL- like fear He created- I can't explain it right, I really can't.
Add that to my nightmares for the next couple years- if I lived that long.
His deep echoing laughter filled the room as shadows engulfed my senses.
There was a faint banging noise, a low rocketing sound that slowly came back and I heard Grace's loud voice barely puncture through the veil.
'She annoys me profusely...but under strict orders she is to be spared.' I could tell He left after that- I fell back, breathing hard as my sense cleared and the stinging on the back of my hand faded to a dull burn.
Grace burst through the door, almost half Phased. 'Alexandra! What happened?' Her voice was barely understandable with the half wolf, half human vocal cord.
My throat still burned, and I struggled to say, 'Nothing.'
'You're covered in blood!' Her hackles rose as, probably against her will, she finished Phasing.
'I-I know.'
The massive blue-grey wolf growled as if it didn't believe a word I said, like I had said the moon was made of cheese.
'Nothing happened.' I choked out.
What strict orders would stop the DEVIL from harming a werewolf?
