Chapter Five

An unGodly (get it?) screech filled the air as the VAMPIRE finished exorcising the ANGEL and Michael fled, leaving the dead vessel body in his place.

Standing shakily and leaning against the wall for support, I spat as harshly as I could, 'Thanks.'

'Anytime, love. Though I think you really need to get back into practise.' He smiled wickedly, showing off his fangs.

'I didn't ASK for your help.'

'But it's obvious you needed it.' He pointed out.

'So?' Stumbling forward as the last effects of the bone-crippling pain wore off, I grabbed the whip that must've spun out of my hand when Michael jumped me.

'So, do you want to tell me which of the Angels wants you dead? I thought Rogue Demon Hunters were protected by Satan's Law or something.' He leant against the wall and crossed his heavily muscled arms.

'Why would I tell you?' I snapped. 'I don't know you, I don't care about you, and the only reason why I would care would be because I'm hunting you.'

'I dunno, I reckon I could take you.' He smiled again.

'Bite me.'

'Covered in that much blood, do you really think it's smart to say that to me?' He got serious again, standing straight, taller than me, and I'm five eight.

I shrugged. 'Maybe. How the Hell can you exorcise an Angel? Isn't that a little messed up?'

'I run around screaming "THE POWER OF CHRIST COMPELS YOU!!!"' He said.

'Isn't that demons?'

'You'd think so.' Taking a step forward, he held out his hand. 'I'm Jensen.'

'I don't care.' I said, turning and stumbling off. Can't BELIEVE I had to walk around mortals looking like this.

'Don't you?' He appeared beside me, and I sighed when he didn't burst into flames in the sunlight. I knew it was a stupid myth- Vampires didn't burst into flames, they sweat blood and could die easily from it.

'Not really, no.' Walking down the street, it occurred to me that even in the middle of the day, there were no people on the streets and barely any cars passed.

'Because see I heard that-'

'Look, I don't care what you heard.' I stopped, and after a second Jensen did too. 'Why are you following me? You're like one of those stray cats that after you feed them, they never go away. Can you leave me alone?'

'Someone has issues.' He laughed.

'Go away before I brain you.' I growled.

'Okay, okay, hear me out.' He held up his hands in mock defeat. 'To tell the truth, I want nothing to do with you. You're boring and weak and pitiful.'

'Hey,' I warned.

'But I got FORCED to talk to you, so here I am.' Jensen smiled big.

'Forced by who?' I asked, walking again.

'Uh...the Devil.' He sounded embarrassed.

'Really?' I looked up, and Jensen's blue eyes met my green ones.

'You're the one that works for the bastard, so you can't not believe me.' He snapped defensively.

'And you said II had issues?' I asked. 'Why does he want you to speak to me?'

'I thought he would've told you.'

'Nope.'

'Ohkay then.'

'So you can go away now?'

'Hopefully.' He muttered.

'You're a bit of a dick, aren't you?' I asked pleasently.

He shrugged. 'I suppose.'

'And the best thing of all is that you can admit it.' I smiled to myself as the house I shared with Grace came into view.

'And you're a bit of a bitch?'

'Probably.' I admitted. 'Well this has definately been fun, but I need to go clean my whip now. Hopefully I won't ever see you again.' I said, walking up the pathway to the dogdy house I lived in.

'You can dream, can't you.' He smiled wickedly again.

I sighed and rolled my eyes.
