'It was MINE- you had no right to take it!'

'Oh Lord.' I sobbed quietly. 'Please make it stop.'

I sat up to see Grace and Jensen fighting again.

'You weren't going to use it anyway!' Jensen roared back.

Shrieking, Grace jumped the bed and tackled him over.

'Grace!' I screamed, jumping up.

She got off his chest as blood poured out of the corner of his mouth and his sightless

eyes stared emptily.

'What? He's fine...or not.' She muttered the last bit.

'It was MINE- you had no right to take it!'

'Do you reckon they'll serve the dinner special still kicking?'

I muttered darkly just before Jensen did.

I saw the little girl, walking solemnly with her mother.

I caught the hot sauce again-

'Wow, awesome reflex-'

'No.' I cut across. ''Coz I knew it would happen.'

'What?' Jensen said, disbelieving. 'As if you could-'

'I've seen you both die a hundred ways each. I've tried to save you a hundred times,

lived through a hundred Thursdays. But no matter what I do,' I swallowed hard. 'One of

you dies. And then I wake up. And then it's Thursday again.'

'No way Alex.' Grace scoffed.

'As if that's true.' We said simultaneously. 'Good guess. Very funny. Quit it. Alexandra

Reynolds sleeps with a doll. Alexandra Reynolds watches the blood sucker while he

sleeps. Alexandra Reynolds stuffs paper down her- OK!'

I stopped.

'OK, I believe you.' Grace sighed.

'That was awesome.' Jensen laughed. 'Do it again.'

We both shot him death looks.

'Dammit, I've lost my card.' I muttered, sticking my hands deep in my jackets pocket.

'Dammit, I've lost my card!'

'Where's my darn keys.'

'Where's my darn keys?' The old man that had run over Grace cried.

'Do you reckon we could visit, you know, a touristy spot.' I said as Grace opened her

mouth.

She quickly shut it again.

'If someone's doing this to you, they've got to have a lot of power.' Jensen said.

'Yep.' I muttered sadly.

'Wouldn't they feel bad?' Grace asked as we passed under the piano.

'What?' I looked up.

'Well you are just doing your job, after all.' She elaborated.

'Trickster Demigods would just do it for the fun of it.' Jensen pointed out.

Ignoring him, she continued, 'So I'm guessing whoever or whatever's doing it is being

forced, and they'd feel bad.'

'Yes.' I whispered, turned and bolted back to the restaurant.
