The Time the Sky was Dark

A very long chapter in which Crystal flirts and a bunch of cliche stuff happens

“Everyone, time for dinner!” Chimecho yelled. There was cheering everywhere. “Let’s get-” Suddenly, there was an interruption to their meal.

“Hold on, everyone!” Chatot said. Everyone glared at him. No one liked to be disturbed, especially not Crystal. She wanted to get the taste of Rosepoison’s purple goo out of her mouth. It had been all over her fur and had stung her wounds like concentrated salt, and she’d licked it off. She soon learned this was a bad mistake, and had a horrible taste in her mouth.

“Ahem, before we start dinner…” he began.

“HURRY up!” I’m STARVING!” Loudred yelled. Despite not having a bad taste in his mouth, he still wanted to eat. Crystal knew they had all worked very hard today, as they did everyday. Not everyone snuck a snack in like she and the rest of Team Sapphire did.

“There is something I must share with you.” Chatot said, ignoring Loudred’s outburst. This didn’t prevent others from voicing their opinion, however.

“Hey, hey, hey!” Corphish yelled angrily, raising his claws and banging them on the table in his impatience.

“Come ON! Get ON with it! I’m HUNGRY!” Loudred yelled again. It was not long before everyone joined in the shout-fest. Crystal even yelled a few choice words. She was hungry, so Chatot had better get on with it. She growled loudly.

“Quiet, please!”Chatot said. Immediately, instinctively, everyone stopped talking. They settled for glaring knives at Chatot, who did not flinch. He cleared his throat. “Now, we just received word of this… Another Time Gear was stolen!”

“WHAT?!” Everyone yelled, shocked out of their anger and hunger.

“Another Time Gear?” Chimecho chimed quietly, sounding a little afraid.

“ANOTHER one got stolen?” Loudred asked in confusion. The Time Gears were dropping like flies or magikarps!

“Uh… is it… maybe…” Bidoof mumbled. “The one in Fogbound Lake?” he asked quietly. Surely no one had told? Crystal gulped as she looked around the room to survey everyone’s faces. It was apparent that everyone was thinking the same thing. Chatot paused a few moments. Tension was hitting dangerous highs in the room. Some felt a chill of fear down their back.

“No, it wasn’t.” Chatot replied. Everyone sighed with relief.  The tension melted somewhat, but it didn’t change the fact the Time Gears were disappearing at an alarming rate. “The stolen Time Gear was not from Fogbound Lake. It’s apparently from elsewhere, but that’s the second Time Gear to be stolen. It would be extremely bad if a third were to be taken. Now, rest assured, I have full confidence in you all. But I must make one thing very clear. You must never tell anyone about what you witnessed during our expedition.” said Chatot fiercely. He leered at everyone in the room. Crystal felt as if he was staring into her very soul. She shivered.

“What expedition? What did you see?” Celeste asked in confusion. Crystal stared at her, and then suddenly remembered that Celeste had come only 2 days ago. Funny, it seemed longer than that.

“That is not your concern.” Chatot said simply.

“I’ll tell you later.” Rise whispered to her.

“Uh, no you won’t. Oh portal to the underworld, Rise, he just said not too,” Whispered Crystal.

“Understood?” Chatot said, glaring at Team Sapphire, who were whispering amongst themselves. Crystal glared back this time.
