"Woah... you ok?"
"H-hang on..."
"Don't let go!"
"I... can't hold... on..."
"AAAAAGH!!!!"
Thunder rumbled across the seascape. Waves crashed against the shoreline, hungry for destruction protected only by the smallest grains of those already dashed to pieces. A young Riolu hid from the encroaching storm. Although Sharpedo Bluff's shelter was minimal, he was surprisingly dry in the cave's mouth. He snuggled deeper into his bed of straw with a whimper, clutching something close to his chest. His paw wrapped around the smooth stone, tracing the irregular markings.
"Yuuki..." he mumbled, clutching the rock tightly. "I'd hate to be caught in this storm..." He could see the waves crashing against the beach furiously and shuddered, feeling sorry for the water pokemon inside. He worried most for the Magikarps, although the Gyarados should've kept them safe. They were abandoned, as was he. It was just him and his rock, Yuuki. He hoped they'd be ok.
"Yuuki..." he mumbled the rock's name. "Will you help me be brave tommorow? I promise I won't back down... I'll join Wigglytuff's guild." he said. There was a pause. Tthe the blue, anubis-like creature leaned his head onto the stone.
"Then... I will be brave... Yuuki." He snuggled deeper into the straw and soon was asleep, lulled to sleep by the rain pounding against the stone, unbothered by the flashes of lightning. The rolls of thunder just yelled out to deaf ears. Warm and snug in his home, the young Riolu was oblivious to the outside world, for the last few moments.
The storm passed rather quickly, it seemed, for in the morning it was as sunny as ever.
It's time, Yuuki. He thought as he walked through treasure town, head bowed, fearing the anxiety gnawing at him. He would be strong today. He had to be. He wasn't giving up again.
He was in front of the guild now, overlooking it. It was in the shape of Wigglytuff's head. His mouth drooled briefly. "Soo...cool! Yuuki today I'll join it!" He threw his rock in the air and caught it with his tail, and began to walk towards the guild, stepping on a grid of some kind.
"who is it?" an unfamiliar voice yelled.
"It's Riolu's! It's Riolu's!"
Rise looked down slowly. A Diglett looked up, right back at him.
Rise let out a scream and ran for all he was worth.

"Yuuki... why didn't you help me?" Rise laid the rock down on the beach and stared at it, staring at the markings. He didn't seem to notice the other two watching him, a Koffing and a Zubat.
"Nice rock, eh?"
"I bet it's worth a bunch. Let's tell the boss then take it!"
"Chaw-haw-haw!"
Rise began to cry, tears plopping on the smooth surface at the pitiful failure that was himself.
"W-why didn't you help me, Yuuki-chan?" he squealed. He heard a groan of pain, and immediatly his ears pricked.
uuuunnnggghhh.....
And it repeated, the chilling sound of someone in terrible pain. Rise got up, and picked the rock of. "T-today..." he sniffled. "I'll be someone's hero!" he declared, and rushed off towards the nearby sound. An eevee.
