"I'm so sorry Millie! I truly am. I'm the worst person ever!" Sarah cried after I explained to her the reason for my bruises.

Words I thought I'd never say to anyone flow out of my mouth like it was no secret at all. I was frighten that now someone knows about me. Frighten for telling but frighten for Sarah as well. Afraid of what my brother can do to her if he finds out. Who would have known that of all people, I come to confide in Sarah. Although I was scare, I had to admit, it felt wonderful to share this dark life of mine.

"We have to go to the police!" she exclaimed after I fixed my shirt back on.

Hastily, I shook my head, "You can't! We can't! Promise me you will never tell a soul."

"But look at you... No, you helped me, now I have to help you." She insisted. Her warm hands grab mine.

"Sarah please. I'm begging you. Don't tell anyone." Regret was starting to course through me for opening my big mouth.

"But..."

"Not buts." My voice was definite.

"What about Christian?" she asked. My heart sank at the mention of his name. He can't know, not now, not ever. The last person I want to put in danger was him.

She saw the doubt in my eyes. "He can help you. We all can." She tries to convince me.

"Please Sarah. He... He may be evil but he's still my brother."

She nods knowingly and defeated.

"And no matter what, don't tell Christian. Okay?"

"Okay, but if I see it for myself or things get out of hand, I won't hesitate to open my mouth." She assured me. "You know Christian is a good person right?"

"Yeah, I know. You all are." I smile at her.

"No, I mean he really is," she hesitated before continuing, "even when he's stubborn, and let that ego of his make decisions."

I sense that she was hiding something from me, but decided to shrug it off. We've been through enough just this morning. I can't handle anymore news. Luckily, my phone rang and my manager from the bakery asked if I can come into work since one of the worker went home sick. I quickly agree.

After bidding her goodbye, I head home to get ready for work.

It was 9:30 at night when I stepped into the unlit house. The inside was almost just as cold as the chilly night outside. I keep the heat off during the day since I don't have the wallet for it. Thankfully Jackson has yet to complain. He wasn't home or is drunk/high most of the time.

I walk down the hallway towards my room, but stop when I see movement coming from the living room. A dark shadow approaches me and I didn't have to guess twice who it was.

"Baby sis, you're home," Jackson appears in front of me.

His demeanor seemed to be different. Almost bright and happy. That scared me even more. Although the house was cold, I can feel beads of sweat dripping at my neck.

"I need your help." He said. Then right behind him, two men appeared. Both just as intimidating as him.

"This is the sister you boast about?" The heavier set man said. The look he gave me was so disgusting.

The other man, taller than everyone included, "She's pretty for a fat girl I guess."

I warily look from one man to the other and lastly on Jackson. Nothing good can come of this.
