Chapter 10: Riding Shotgun
"I sure hope you're bulletproof. God damn, I can't believe we're doing this! Are we really this desperate for a death sentence?"
"Calm down, its not as if we're asking your parents for their blessing in marriage. Though I'd love to see that day." he added as an after thought.
I hit Eric on the chest, giving him a full on glare. "This is not time to plan our wedding, Eric! We're about to head into dangerous territory, and don't forget this is my father we're talking about."
It has been a few months since we talked about Amsterdam. Also a few months that I've been trying to put the trip off secretly. Its a surprise I had even put it off for this long. I know it was selfish of me but what we were going to do now, we might as well be digging up our own graves.
Finally, Eric caught up to my plans and had forced me into this. My fear was ridiculous, I mean, we were just going to Amsterdam, not running off to Vegas. Pardon me if my teenage instincts take over. That's just the way I am, always taken cared of to the point I sometimes act like a spoiled brat.
"Stop being so paranoid, it doesn't do anyone any good. Plus, it makes you even more creepy than you really are." he snickered.
I halt in my tracks for a second, looking at him questioningly. "You think I'm creepy?"
Eric shrugs as he adjusts the collar of his white, button up, Armani shirt. Yeah, he flaunts rich like that. "At times. You should applaud for yourself or something, you can scare grown men."
We stop at the front door of my house. My hands were slick with sweat and I could feel my heart rate going crazy. Eric noticed my hands were shaking so he grabbed hold of it, rubbing circles at the back of my palm, soothing me.
"Last chance to back out, Eric. You can still live to see another day." I warned.
He laughs at my attempt and kisses my hand that he was holding. It was scary the way my body calmed instantly. "You are so melodramatic. And I don't want to live to see tomorrow without you, remember that." he added softly.
My heart thudded loudly. Why was he being sappy now?!

"YOU'RE DOING WHAT?!"
I flinch ever so slightly at the pitch of Mr Ambers' voice. Katherine and I already jumped the gun on the news. Katherine thought it would be better if we told them we were going to Amsterdam instead of asking permission. She said it was so that her father won't have anything to do.
Guess it was going well and that she knows what she's doing because Katherine seemed nonchalant about it now when she was trembling earlier.
I got to give it to her, she's a good actress.
I decide to step in and cleared my throat, wrong move though, because Mr Ambers' ire is now directed at me.
His red face was in my direction, eyes hard. "And he's coming?! Katherine, I am not happy about this." he said, turning back to his daughter. Mrs Ambers just looked amusedly back and forth.
Katherine sighed and rolled her eyes, "Come on, dad. Its not like I'm going to be alone with him. The triplets are coming too, remember?"
"But he's still your boyfriend!" he argued.
Her eyes widened and her cheeks flamed up. "Oh my gosh, dad! Exactly, he is my boyfriend. Give him some credit and trust him."
Mr Ambers' jaw clenched as he crossed his arms, still clearly not happy. Mrs Ambers laid a hand on his thigh, "John, they're not kids anymore. We don't even have that much hold on them than we had before. I am sure Eric won't do anything you will regret you trusted him, right honey?"
