That's how I imagine the ball room except a little more spherical. You can imagine it however you please.
-------------------I sighed as a woman helped me into my teal dress. Patting it down and smiling. "How would you like your hair miss?" she asked as she ruffled my hair. "Leave it down." I said, swatting away her hands as I moved away from her. She sighed softly. "What is bothering you madam?" she asked me making me feel like an old lady. "...How can a demon be killed?" I asked her. She seemed shocked by my question. "B-beheading... Miss." she said nervously. "That's the only way?" I asked sounding a little more hopeful as she started nodding. "What if their neck is snapped?" I questioned turning to face her fully as she shook her head. "No ma'am. It would only make them unconscious until their neck was snapped into place." she clarified. Which means... Erksine is alive!
I took off running, her head peaking out from the door way. I was sprinting bare foot, holding my dress up off the floor. Skidding into the ball room men we taking Tony away from the floor, dragging him and another about to pick up Erksine. "Don't touch him!" I yelled suddenly between the two, my wings stretching over the man who fell back in surprise. "L-lady Melissa?" he asked in shock as I turned to Erksines limp form. Kneeling down I gently put my hand on his disfigured throat. Suddenly the bones snapped back into place and he took a choked breath and gasped for air. His eyes looking up at me and tilting his head. "I thought demons didn't go to heaven?" he asked jokingly as I laughed and hugged him. "The boy is a demon?" the man questioned now looking like someone who was having a strange day. "Yes he is." I whispered in relief as I hugged him.
After that Erksine went back to work and I went back to the servant I had left. I hate calling them servants... Its just a vile word. Lilith allowed me to barrow her shoes and told me that Abraksas and me couldn't see each other until the ball, which kinda bummed me out but I guess I can live a little while without seeing that dashing face.
Hours passed and it was almost 6 at night, time to party. I was in the upper part of the castle, how to get down? The staircase in the ball room. So yes, this is going to be one of those awkward moments that everyone stares at me. Yay! I paced around this level of the castle, hearing the roar of people and the music that played. It sounded like I was in the 1800s. Another true stereotype, vampires are classy.
A throat cleared behind me, turning to look I smiled brightly. Abraxas stood in a perfectly tailored suit, wearing a white shirt and black tie beneath his solid black tail coat. He looked elegant with his red gleaming eyes they almost seemed orange in this light. "I thought you said you wore black?" he questioned. I smiled and shrugged, "I may have fibbed just a little." I told him which made him chuckle. "Well then, how about we head down to meet everyone?" he offered, holding out his arm. "That's a lot of people down there... do I have to meet all of them?" I asked. I could see around 100 people just near the stair case alone. I know there's many more than that. My shyness made him laugh at me. "No, you just have to be seen." he said softly as I looped my arm in his. "Then... let's get this over with." I muttered as he led me to the stairs.A man stood at the top of the stair way as we rounded the corner. His hand moving up, stopping us and the music. "Ladies and gentle men." he called, his voice like a microphone. "I present, High Prince Abraxas and his bride-to-be, Lady Melissa." he called causing an applause to cover the people beneath us. My cheeks flushed and my dying heart started to hammer against my chest. Abraxas taking the first step and leading me down the stairs, the clapping dying once we got half way down and my heels were the only things heard.
A gentleman in all black with a night blue tie stepped forward, shaking Abraxas' hand. "Congratulations, sir." he said Abraxas nodding to him. "And to you milady." he said gesturing to me. I smiled as best I could, nodding once to him. He smiled so I assume I did something right within that greeting. We gained several greetings like this. I myself heard many whispers, of my dress, of Abraxas' attractiveness, and of jealousy that I was the one bound to him and the mark on my neck proved it. I didn't want to hide it so I avoided a cover up at all costs.
Abraxas took me over to a table where a punch bowel of blood sat and Erksine sat behind it. "Evening, milady. Would you like some?" he offered me with his little grin. "I'd love some." I answered smiling back as he passed me the wine glass of blood. I thanked him and looked around. Many people were dancing gracefully to the music. Some doing routine dances that I did not know yet. Then my eyes stopped. A man stood in the middle alone, his back facing me. A circle of dancers moved around and avoided him. I shook my head before taking a sip from my glass and looked back. He was gone.
Me and Abraxas danced very little throughout most of the hours. I found very few songs that I felt spirited to dance to. But one caught my attention, when I moved to the dance floor I could tell the hand I was holding wasn't Abraxas' hand. I turned to look at whoever cut in and scowled. My fathers hand resting high on my waist and he held my other hand after placing mine on his shoulder. "Sorry, but I needed to speak to you." he said.
"I don't want to talk to you. Why don't you understand that?" I asked in disgust. He nodded even though he led me in the dance. "I'll talk. I can only hope that you'll listen." he said. I watched him confused. The more I looked at his face, the more I saw the relationship between us. I had his bone structure in the face, high cheek bones and a strong jaw. His eyes were a bright red although I saw hints of brown behind them just like mine were before I was turned. "I know this subject pains you, but I need you to understand. I sent you away because even though you were a child you were the closest thing to your mother that anyone who ever knew her had. There were many people who loved your mother but there were also those that didn't and would do anything to hurt her, even in death. I could protect myself but I knew I couldn't protect you on my own. So I sent you to the human world with my dear friend. I had no idea she had married a man so vile. I never went to see you because I didn't want anyone to know where you were. Yes, it pained me to look at you and see her brown hair, that perfect little button nose, and the smile. God when you smiled it was like looking at her. A goddess in a child. I knew that was something I had to protect and it hurt in doing so. Yet, here you are, about to become a princess and even a queen." he said the song ending. I was lost in every word. I've never seen my ma so I never knew what she looked like let alone that I had any of her features. People would do anything to hurt a person in power and that is something I've learned in my time here, not from him.I pulled him to the side of the ball room. "I get you trying to protect me, but you have to understand why I'm mad at you. Why I hated you when I saw you. You left me to rot in that world. I know you thought it was best but I would have rather grown up fighting than having a hard time sitting because my butt was beat and bruises. I killed a man when I was 4 years old because I messed with the fuel. I lost my powers for years and then they awaken to defend me from a man who bewitched me. I hate you, because if you would have just kept me I wouldn't have to hate the world like I do." I told him and I could see the glassyness to his eyes. "I understand, I won't ask your forgiveness but I am going to ask that you give me a second chance. A chance to make things right, and be a real father to you." he begged. "Father? No. You'll be lucky if you even become on a first name basis with me. I won't forgive you, and I won't call you father. But, if you can prove yourself, I might call you friend." I told him and this gave him a hopeful look. "I'll take what I can get. Thank you... milady." he said bowing slightly at the waist before stepping back. Abraxas coming up to my side and taking my hand. The two exchanging a look before Abraxas took us back to our seats.
Hours passed more and it became nearly 4 am. Everyone was starting to leave. Aside from the smut on the floor, it was like no one was ever there. I sighed tiredly as I leaned against Abraxas who laughed at me. "Come on, it's bed time for you." he said standing up and helping me to my feet. I nodded slowly as he led me through the corridors and to our room. He had me sit on the bed as he changed from fancy tux to no shirt and sweat pants. Coming over to me, he had me stand and moved behind me. Undoing my zipper while I had no energy to object. The dress slid off to the floor with a puff and I stepped out of it. Abraxas ignoring my body and kneeling down in front of me, undoing the hooks of my shoes and having me step down. "Wanna put some pajamas on or no?" he asked and I just shook my head. I was too tired to even try to do any of that. Abraxas picked me up and laid me down on my side of the bed that I've claimed. Him, laying beside me with a sigh after turning off the light. "You did great tonight." he told me. All I could do was smile, before falling asleep in his strong embrace.
