I found myself sitting beside Daryl in front of his mom who is glowering at the both of us. Actually kakahatid lang sa akin ni Gio nang salubungin ako ni Nana Rose at sabihang pinapatawag ako ng Mama ni Daryl. Kakarating lang kasi niya mula sa pagbabakasyon niya sa Saudi kung saan binisita niya ang asawa. When I entered the study room where I was told to go, I was surprised to see Daryl seated there.
Himala! Ang agang niyang umuwi.
Pinaupo ako ng mama niya sa tabi ni Daryl which I obliged. I sat down without even taking a glimpse of his son. Diretso lang akong tumitig sa mama niya at nagtanong.
"Bakit po ma?" I inquired. She is oblivious to whatever it is that is going on between me and his son and I want to keep it that way. Kaya lang, I feel suffocated to be in the same room with Daryl so whatever it is that his mom wants to discuss, I want it to be tackled and done immediately. The sooner this talk will end, the better. Sa gayon, hindi na malalaman o mahalata man lang ng mama niya ang samaan namin ng loob ni Daryl at makakaiwas na rin ako sa presensya ng magaling na katabi ko.
"Kumusta na ang wedding preparations?" She inquired. Halata ang inis sa boses niya.
Nanlaki naman ang mga mata ko. Nitong mga nakaraang buwan, bago pa man magkalamat ang ugnayan namin ni Daryl, hindi na namin masyadong napag-uusapan ang kasal. Not that we intended to dodge away from it. It's just that we were too overwhelmed with my pregnancy and our 'almost perfect' relationship that time that it just slipped our minds.
