MARLEY WATCHED Bellamy leave the dropship, her mouth slightly agog at his comment. She scoffed a little as she thought about it - Lonely Girl, he'd called her. He didn't even know her and he was already passing judgement - so what if she didn't want to stand with the rest of the teenagers?

She scowled at the thought and tentatively made her way over to the metal ladder, tip-toeing down the steps until her feet hit the metal deck below her. She could feel the breeze on her face from where she was stood. It was cooling and gentle and she'd never felt anything quite like it before. She could smell what could only be grass, trees and dirt; she took in the scent greedily, drinking in the earthy smell of nature outside.

The sun hit her skin - it was warm and bright. She squinted, her eyes adjusting as she drew closer to the open drop ship door. She could feel the soft breeze billowing through the trees and into her hair. It carried on it the shouts and cheers of the ninety-odd teenagers dancing around outside in the cool fresh air.

With a few soft-footed footsteps - soft steps that still left a soft metallic clank in their wake - she reached the edge of the ship's doorway. Her eyes scanned the scene before her. It was simply mesmerising; it was like nothing she'd ever seen before. In front of her lay a vast landscape of brown and green that was so drastically different to the white and grey walls and ceiling she'd grown so accustomed to the last two years. The trees ahead of her reached high up into the sky - they towered above her like the great looming guards that often tried to intimidate her. The girl they believed to be a murderer.

Her palms were sweaty. One more step and she'd be on the ground. Just one more step. Marley took a shaky breath. Her tattered boots landed on the long grass, the cold dew laced throughout the blades dampening her legs and trousers.

She was unable to control the grin that spread across her face, a grin spanning from ear to ear as her eyes scanned the vision in front of her. Marley could hear the faint hum of what she believed to be nature, but only barely over the loud shrieking of the hundred. She ran her hands through a patch of long green grass next to her feet; it was smooth and damp.

Everything was a little overwhelming for Marley. It was a barrage on the senses and she wasn't quite sure what to do or think. All that time she'd been confined to a tiny metal cell and now she was out in the open. With fresh air to breath. And with space to move.

"Not bad, huh, Lonely Girl?" Bellamy's smooth voice floated from behind her.

Marley turned on her heels to meet his smirking face. He had his arms folded over his chest - the guard jacket was a little small for him, the dirty blue material stretching over his biceps. All she could do was nod in reply as Bellamy's authoritative gaze bore into her.
