FROZEN STARS

"THERE YOU ARE! And just when I was starting to think you were dead," Elijah's voice called as Marley clattered through the door of their room. She threw her bag onto the floor and collapsed to her bed. Her entire body ached and the last tendrils of energy had been yanked away by the hours-long walk back from camp. Everything had been so overwhelming and, now, she was sure that if she let herself sleep, she would sleep for three days. They'd taken Lincoln to the Medbay when they'd arrived. He was half-conscious for most of the journey but he was alive and taking and that was all that mattered. A deal hinged on his life. He was still clinging on to that. But the flooding relief of it all had all but smothered her; it didn't help the exhaustion, sapping any and all that was left in her bones.
"Don't sound so happy about it." She murmured, a weary smile pushing its way onto her lips.
"I'm glad you're back." Elijah pushed himself from his bed, using his walking stick to steady himself, though his limp was less pronounced now and Marley wasn't even entirely sure he needed it anymore. She was sure that he probably just liked the stick because Raven said it was cool one time. "Of course I am." He insisted.
He moved towards her, coming to a stop by the edge of her bed. He stared down at her; she expected to see his usual bright smile, the ever-present goofy grin that never seemed to leave his lips for anything. But, instead, she saw a furrowed brow and a scowl. It didn't sit right amongst his soft features. It reminded her of their time in the woods, when his leg was injured and they were trying their best to find somewhere safe to settle down, when he'd pretend he was okay and forced fake smiles until he thought she was asleep or wasn't looking. And it made her blood run cold. What had she missed?
"Why are you looking at me like that?" She questioned, immediately sitting up to face him. Her voice came out more panicked than she'd intended.
Elijah's voice was quiet when it spoke, like he was still making a decision on what to say. "What's going on with Finn?"
Marley watched him and the expectant look on his face. He was staring back at her with eyes wide, wide and wild, like she'd never seen them before. But the question. Marley has no idea how to answer. She only knew the basics, what Bellamy had told them on the way back to camp. And that was barely any more than what Elijah must have known. "What?" She whispered, unsure of exactly what to say. She could feel her brows furrowing in the centre. Elijah looked at her so hopeful, like Marley knew all the answers to his questions. But she couldn't give him that. She was still just as confused as he was. Even if she could offer him up more information than he already had, it seemed like even Finn himself didn't know exactly what was going to happen to him.
They were staring at an irreversible mess of a situation with no easy way out.
"I know the obvious but-" Elijah raked a hand through his hair. It was getting long again, even after his mom had cut it the day he was released from Medical. It curled at the nape of his neck. A sigh pushed its way from his lips, unintentional and far too loud. "-but Clarke's gone and Raven keeps ignoring the subject. And now- I haven't spoken to her in days. You're close to Bellamy, I thought maybe you knew-"
