Living Life With The Parker Boys
Chapter One
The Beginning
"How could you be so incredibly stupid? Brooklyn, do you understand how many people you put in danger?" There he went again looking out for other people, not even asking if I were alright. Thanks, 'dad'. I sighed, rubbing my hands over my tired face.
"Please, stop being so melodramatic. Nobody's pressing any charges and there's not a scratch on me. Come on, Tony, give me a break. I'm young, I'm just having fun, I'm living my life to the fullest." I said. The already deep set scowl on his face deepend even further which I'd thought was impossible, his cheeks werre flushed red with rage. A small part of me wanted to recoil at his anger directed towards me but the bigger more dominent part stood its ground finding the unraveling scene highly amusing. At least now I knew where I got my short temper from.
“I am sick of this. I’m sick of all your messing about, all of these pranks, I am sick of you. I want you out of my house,” he yelled harshly. His voice hit each fragile wall, making a sinister aura fall upon us. Although I would never admit it his words stung more than anyone could ever imagine. I masked my face to hide any hint of the emotions running through me and replaced it with one of my well known smirks.
“Oh and where do you expect me to go?” I smiled smugly, there was no way in hell he’d kick me out of the house and onto the streets, I knew he didn't have the guts. He could be cruel for sure but he would never go so far. We had no family apart from ourselves in the area and there was no way he'd let me stay with my friends who only contributed to my 'never ending downward spira of dissapointmentl'.
“You're mother and I have been talking to our old friends from high school, they're willing to let you go and stay with them for a while with his family whilst you get your act together.” He explained. At first I was slightly shocked, one; becasuse he even thought about sending me to live with complete strangers and two; they actually had friends. I stared blankly at him, then to my mom who stood quietly beside him, then back again as I searched for any signs to show that they were bluffing. There were no signs as they stood in front of me with their walls built so high not even a tornado could break them down. They weren’t bluffing they were actually willing to send me away. It dawned on me that I had finally pushed their last buttons one too many times and crossed a boundry that I never even thought existed.
“You're telling me they want to deal with me, the young delinquent?” I questioned using the words he had shouted at me so many times before that they were practically engraved in my brain. How could someone possibly be willing to let someone like myself stay with them? According to most people I was nothing and most people were right.
“They are perfectly fine with it. I’ve explained to them about everything that's been going on with you and they told me they like a good challenge,” he said, a smug smile threatened to tug at his lips.
Well, if they liked challenges so much I was going to be their biggest challenge yet.
