Here's the next chapter, there's not as much action as the next few are going to have a lot of in. :)
Chapter. 6
Haley's POV
I woke up abruptly, wandering where I was, my head ached and I couldn't find my hands to rub my saw head. I finally remembered I was tied to a tree, as a prisoner, but I had my penknife in my pocket so when Tom and the stupid vampires leave, I can cut myself free. I was waiting for at least a day, until finally the vampires left to go hunting, leaving me unguarded. Tom gave me a load of threats of what would happen if I planned an escape. But he didn't scare me.
------------
I peered around, they'd been gone about five minutes so I started to cut the rope with my knife. I eventually heard the rope snap, and stood up. I realised they'd follow my footprints in the mud, so as I walked away, I hid the tracks with a stick, by rubbing them out. I then reached a large river, I decided I needed a swim, so I jumped in the refreshing water. I was swimming around when I heard voices, I turned in the direction, seeing Tom and the vampires coming back to their camp.
-----------
Blood was smothered over their faces so I guessed there was about eight less people in the games. I saw them heading in the direction I was in, they were walking towards the bridge. I couldn't let them see me, so I hid under the bridge, but I had to hold my breath. I could still hear them approaching whilst I was underwater, I was desperate for air now. My lungs felt like they were twisting on each other, as I started loosing focus in my eyes. When I finally heard them over the bridge I came up for air, hoping they wouldn't hear my gasp. I climbed out the water after about five minutes, when I heard a loud yell, coming from the vampires camp. No doubt, they'd found out I'd escaped. What is that, three or four times, I've escaped from them and heard, we will kill you if you escape, they have a terrible memory if you ask me.
-----------
I searched for Joey, but I couldn't find him anywhere. I started to believe that the worse may have happened to him, but I tried to keep hope. Hope was my only guide, I could easily win if I used my wolf side, but if I did, my life wouldn't be normal ever again. If people knew I was a werewolf, I'd no longer be the person I want to be, vampires would be after me, humans would depend on me, everything I didn't want to happen to me, would happen to me. I wanted just to be Haley Jones, an ordinary girl who goes to an ordinary school, with ordinary friends, nothing to fear, no pressure, no vampires, and most importantly, no blood games.
-----------
I dreamed away, wishing these things were true, even though they weren't. I climbed up a tree, before hanging myself on a branch high up. I figured night would be falling and the second or third day of the blood games would be over, though I didn't know how long the games had been going for, it was either two or three days, but as I blacked out when the vampires caught me, lots of time probably passed. I half expected Joey to be up in this tree, but it was stupid of me to believe that. I'd forgotten which tree I left my weapon and equipment in, but hopefully I will find it, though it's probably wishful thinking as there must be about a thousand trees in the arena.
----------
I sat up in the tree, watching days go past, hunger not being a problem so far. I occasionally jumped down and used a spear I made by sharpening a stick with a sharpe piece of fresh flint, and killing an animal. Mostly fish and birds were my diet, as fish attract to light, so I built a fire by the side of the river bed, then stabbed every fish that approached. If I didn't want fish, I would brake up some crumbs off my ham sandwich and leave them on a high up branch, then kill any bird that landed on it. I left my sandwich as a last resort, mostly because it was stale, had mould on it and the ham smelt bad, but I wouldn't throw any food I had away. If there were lots of fish I could catch, I would just stock up, by hanging them from some vine on a high branch of my tree, then drying them in the sun. I cooked food the same way, I tied it to vine and hung it over a fire at the bottom of the tree, and if someone came, I was high enough for them not to see me and if they tried to attack me, I could just grab my spear and throw it at them quicker than they could hurt me. I guess you could call me suited for surviving.
